I truly love reading and hearing of others as they reminisce on their early love affairs. I did not have good experiences with mine in any way so it is heartwarming to hear the stories

    Hi Alli, thank you for your kind review, and the stars! As you can see, my early love left me, but she left behind a memory that has lasted a lifetime!

Hello Irishauthorme!
What a lovely and moving poem of first love. I smiled at many of the keen emotive images you imparted to the reader. And I also smiled at your thanking Miss Merri for her "generous help;" her love poems are masterful and do mine shame.
Here's to young love and memories!

Thank you for sharing!

I enjoyed your touching remembrance of an early love that couldn't be.
Often those emotional, fierce loves remain in our memories if not in real time. Your poem expresses this beautifully with well rhymed and metered
quatrains. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Nancy, thank you for your kind words, and all the stars! Feel like you may have a few memories of your own...
    Like to know who is in the bio picture with you? Both ladies look too young to be out alone.

This is an excellent story (poem) full of romantic memories.

I starts with: "The first touch, then first kiss, and suddenly, we were one." Then it becomes; "Half my heart stayed with you,
the broken half remained."

The picture is nice. You deserve the credit for this poem

This was such a beautiful poem that I have to give it six stars and bookmark it! I also really love the artwork you chose! It is all so romantic and eloquent, but this is my favorite part - I can just feel the pain of separation in these words:
"Half my heart stayed with you,
the broken half remained.
I cried out through the darkness,
in sorrow and in pain."

Thank you so much for sharing!

Beautifully expressed feelings on lost love. The words flow smoothly. Heartaches - we all have to go through those. To have loved and lost is a story indeed we all would want to forget. We don't plan love. It happens. But life becomes a spoiler. Thanks for sharing!

very powerful moving elegy to a lost love. I sensed the love, the deep cosmic connection as two lost soul mates found each other. Very moving indeed like the last stanzas the best

True, opposites we were,
the rebellious and the chaste...
you, protected, nourished;
from life's bowl, I'd had a taste.

Instant passion between us,
on the flames of life soon borne.
The first touch, then first kiss,
and suddenly, we were one.

IAM,

What a nice and very well-composed offering to a love that's been lost to time and chance (and possibly, some interference by meddlers?)

This was enjoyable - and certain lines really stood out to me - I especially enjoyed:
1.) We felt halved when kept apart.
--> NICE!

2.) Your last kiss, warm embrace,
have lasted, all these years.
--> great emoting

3.) a nit - can you check:
--> Whispering innuendos
in each others(') hearts,
--> that's a possessive

Thanks so much!

    Thank you, Robyn, for your kind words, all those stars, and the help with my terrible(fixed that!) punctuation! Had some expert help from an old friend who transformed my 'labor of love' into something presentable. Oh, and yes, this is a story from my past...

Irishauthorme:

This set of quatrains, while not written by others, likely
could be said by others upon reading this poem. How
many of us think about the one we let get away for
reason or reasons we may no longer remember. Thanks
for sharing.

What a truly beautiful poem of love. Sad that you didn't share life together. Sometimes teenage love does indeed last a lifetime, and remain strong and powerful. That is true love. The image is a perfect choice to go with your work.
