Good rhyming and poem flows smoothly. Childhood on the farm, great memories you have of the fun times you enjoyed. Funny how we get older, we remember all the good times, and forget all the work we had to do, growing up on a farm.

You are blessed to have such wonderful memories of your brother and you playing in the paddocks during those summer days. I especially enjoyed hearing what your father read to you at night. Rod

A very well-written poem about childhood. Farm life for a child is like heaven in earth. The open fields where they can play makes them free with good healthy exercise to help them grow strong.

These are lovely memories of childhood. You were one of the fortunate kids who had a sibling who enjoyed doing the same things you like to do. Kids who grow up in the country are the lucky ones.

This work has reached the exceptional level

The reader can almost feel the ambiance of happiness that the poet experienced growing up and doing those wonderful childhood activities 'watch the rabbits play'- this one should make it to the winner's enclosure- has my vote

Hi Zanya Oh Thank you made my day with your lovely review and six stars
I enjoyed writing this and have so much more but limited by lines however we did all this and more
We would sit on the hill behind the cowshed and watch the rabbits I loved picking the mushrooms and eating the when cooked
We had a lovely field of Daffodils and would always pick a big bunch for our Nana
    Cheers with much appreciation

I enjoyed reading your poem about your idyllic rural childhood, sharing companionship and adventures with your brother Jim and pedigree collie dog. My dad read those same bedtime stories to me, too. I liked the nostalgic tone to your poem, and the beat of the rhyming couplets.

It's probably worthwhile to write an extended version while you're in the mood. I'd love to read it some time.
I am familiar with outside dunnies and how scary they can be (especially growing up in Australia where there are lots of snakes and spiders.).

It sounds like you had a very pleasant childhood. Farms are great for kids. I used to go and stay with relatives on their farms during the holidays, and I loved it. You brought back that atmosphere. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

This was a very cool entry into the childhood poetry contest. It rhymed, made sense, and made me feel nostalgic for my own childhood. Very nice job. Good luck in the contest.

I know how wonderful the childhood at the farm can be: "For you a story I will tell
about a farm I loved so well,
and with my younger brother Jim
I'd run and play all day with him." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.
