Sounds like you have had a wonderful childhood. Interesting that you got to go to the candy store. I have enjoyed reading your piece of poetry. Excellent work! Good luck in the contest!

So glad you enjoyed this fun piece of nostalgia!

You will be drawing the reader in with this topic. We will all be invited to reflect upon our favorite penny candies. That would be we who were in the era of penny candy. I remember buying 10 pieces for a penny. We could walk out of there with 50 pieces of candy. This was a fun account. I am voting for this one.

I love the style you selected to meet the child prompt. The rhyme was great. The story line was fun and happy. The artwork was complimentary and also bright and joyful. I could imagine the kids running and talking excitedly in the store trying to grab candy. You got my vote. Good luck.

I found this very nostalgic and heart warming. The Rhyming lines up perfectly and staying within the realm of candies while maintaining the overall shape shows wonderful creativity and prowess.

So true! The corner store was our favorite place. We used to pick up comic books there as well. Great memories!

Cute little poem, and yup, we all had a sweet tooth as kids, some of us have been denied this innocent joy, because of diabetes:"
Excited, we were never late
All week I dreamt of Mary Janes
and multi-colored candy canes" Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Love that picture of the old time candy store. Great words you have written to illustrate it and tell of your childhood memory. Rhyming is very good and poem flows smoothly.
