This is a lovely poem that tells a lot about your childhood. I especially like the first verse "The little girl who once was me ..." This is a great introduction.

A lovely poem that just about describes all of us on this site. The little girl inside!
I used to teach high school and I was always making my students do projects that helped them find their inner child, since so many have lost that ability by the time they reached my physics class. When they asked me why, I'd tell them that adults can learn, but only a child can create. If I was still teaching, I'd read them this lovely poem.
Total enjoyment!
Take care,
Rhonda

This is a beautiful poem, and the child doubtless developed a great imagination because of being on her own. The accompanying photo is a beautiful one. Good wishes for the contest.

We are all children inside trying to make sense of this complex world and it is comforting just to behave like a child occasionally and let our guard down, this is what you did in your poem, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I love the rhyming and melancholy of your poem:"
The little girl that once was me
lies sleeping in my brain.
Sometimes I let her out to play
and be that child again." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

A beautifully written introspective poem that, funnily enough, is appropriate today with all the social distancing that's going on at the moment. This is a wonderfully written nostalgic poem, of a time when the pressures were absorbed by older people, great ballad style poem, blessings Roy

I think we all would like to go back to childhood. Being an only child, I, too, was alone a lot. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Hello anonymous
Great entry for
Childhood writing prompt contest. Good form of rhyme and lines count. You could have written this poem about me. It touched my heart. We all have an inner child to nurture.

Hello anon, this is a perfect poem for the challenge 'Childhood'. It sounds so convincingly real, that it really sounds like a biographical poem. Whatever, it is well written in good abcb rhyme and a good story is told.
Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x
