This poem meets the requirements for the contest. It has a very good chance of winning the contest. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Thanks for sharing! Good luck!

I enjoyed this presentation for the writing prompt. Birds must be popular as it filled very quickly! I like the comparison of your family and this bird. Best to you in the contest.

Yes, Aussies will relate well to this, with the popular saying "Don't be such a galah!" Not sure why they deserve this. Great poem, well written. Good wishes for the contest.

I'll have to remember that being a galah means acting like a fool or idiot. This bird looks like a parrot. The rose-breasted cockatoo, is the perfect parrot species for a pet owner who likes to interact frequently with a pet bird. Extremely intelligent and enormously fond of humans, this pretty pink bird can readily learn to say many words and do complicated tricks with regular training.

Thanks for your review. The pink and grey galah is actually a member of the parrot family

Hello, anonymous,
Good entry for the
Bye Bye Blackbird writing prompt contest. Good syllables count but needs some help with the connection between lines. Nice presentation.
I never heard of a galah. This phrase doesn't make sense. .
...family A galah, like me..
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for your review. I explain the phrase in my author notes. If you are acting the fool you get called a galah, therefore you belong to the family of galahs.
Maybe you have to be Australian!!

I enjoyed reading about your local colloquialisms. The word.. galah.. is new to me, but it sure sounds like what it means. Great job on this short verse! Good luck.

This bird 5-7-5, You're a Galah, has the right set up and seems to suggest that association with this bird is not necessarily a compliment.

I'm an Aussie too, so I know about acting the galah. Mobs of these beautiful birds can be so annoying with their screeching - not quite as bad as cockatoos. I enjoyed reading your poem for it's flavour of Australia and personalising the bird's antics (and your own).

I've been accused of being a galah quite often. As they say in America I plead the fifth ;)
