Thank you, Ms. Roger. I'm glad this struck a chord. I was thinking of a sci-fi story I'd read centuries ago. It may have been Ursula Le Guin "The Word for World is Forest", but maybe not. Anyway, the trees lived for centuries and communicated with each other by changing their leaf colors over countless seasons.
