It is fun digging into the past and finding out who our ancestors are, I expect mine have led quite a boring life and never left my home town! A fascinating read, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Hi Dolly,
I felt as you. No one to brag about in my history, just plain people. I see you are from Englad. There is a lively history there. Are you sure you don't have someone interesting in your heritage?
Thanks for stopping in to read and review.

Hello Debi,
This is a fascinating story of ancestry going back to the Mayflower
even more interesting because it is on both sides including
the Native American who met and helped the settlers.
Perfect timing for your niece, giving her a connection to the history
she was studying.
It seems we are nearly all related in some way.
Best wishes to all.

Hi Robert,
Yes, I think we are all related if we go back far enough.
The timing was perfect for my niece.
I was surprised by one connection. The two connections almost seem impossible, but I was delighted to find them.
Thank you so much for the sixer and the wonderful comments.

This article, 400 Years in the Making, is an amazing discovery. To know one's relatives were involved in what was a foundational operation is immense.

I love the way you ended this. What an imaginative way of thinking about time. You are so fortunate to have been able to discover so many of your ancestors' place in time.

How wonderful, Debi! That must have been such a thrill to learn your relatives were ones that came over on the Mayflower in 1620. And to have a connection with both side, the Indian and the English Pilgrim. It is worth looking into, and with the virus still keeping us locked up here in the UK, I might just take a look at my history. (I'm sure there is royalty in my blood!!! Lol) Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I truly appreciate your question "what would they think about having a 10th great granddaughter in common?". Imagine... some day, As your great great times however many grandchildren do their research on their family history, they asked us about you!

Very well-written and interesting. What a fun thing to learn, especially for your niece. Such a conjunction of history seems almost impossible but there are many other instances of historical occurrences. Keep on writing, you do it well.

Debi,
Wow! That is some pretty stellar genealogy! I commend you bunches for going through and doing that kind of research. I am entranced by the past - so I can see it would be remarkable to feel my family members had been part of those who made such an impact! Thanks!

Hi Pam,
Thank you for the detailed review.
As far as how I found the information--I belong to Ancestry.com. For Thomas Rogers, they sent a hint that I might be related to him, but not how. I had to dig through pedigree charts to find the link. Luckily, I started with my father's family and went through the male line and it was mostly through the male line that I was descended. I could have ended up going through hundreds of records. Instead, I only spent a few hours verifying that one.
For Massasoit, they gave me information that it may be through my grandmother's line. That made sense since my grandmother always said there were rumors we had Native American blood way back. Names were lost through the generations, but I finally confirmed it.
Thankfully, both of these men were important to history so searching the internet for historical background information was fruitful.
mayflower.com has detailed information on all the passengers on the ship.
Massasoit is famous so there is all sorts of information on him.
I like it when the research has been done and all have to do is confirm the lineage and read what others have gathered.
