The only stars that I see are the ones that come from someone reading me, Melissa. :) Did you know that glass is now in liquid form? I was reading it on the internet. It's like all the riots happening now, it melts as the people divide. This is a good entry for the 5-7-5 Poetry Contest.

Your use of words captures the image of the night sky, almost like the sky is a painting. "Twinkling shards of glass" is a perfect last line. It accurately describes the night sky which can look like glass. Excellent use of words.

This is a lovely 5-7-5 about the stars glistening like shards of broken glass. The night sky is an awesome thing to behold. May your year be blessed by the Creator of the Universe.

Melissa,
You have parked on one of the crazy issues I often have as a prose writer - finding a new and different way to describe the night sky.
The velvet is not new, but still beautiful, and the twinkly shards of crystal work wonderfully to provide a dramatic image. Thanks and good luck!

What a wonderful description about the starry night. I never thought about it like that before, but your right it does look like that. That's a great thing about you poet's you make us see things in a different way. Your poem is well-written, interesting and your artwork is gorgeous.

Hey Misty. Thank you. I love the thought of a blue velvet midnight sky... but, do not discount your prose writing... you keep us poets grounded with sensible and logical points of view. :).

You are definitely getting some mileage out of this picture of what I believe is moonrise seen from space. Lol. The 5-7-5 is a succinct and rather lovely description of it.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the first sign of light in the morning skies appearing like luminous crystals that lights up the darkened sky to announce a new day.

A fine 5-7-5 presenting a sparkle of light reflected on broken crystal here as it bursts across the skies, few words about a glittering scene, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
