Sounds like you have it all fingered out fit beginning the start of the NewYear. I don't do resoulations because I don't make promises I don't keep.

I don't really call them resolutions...they are more like goals I set for myself. I don't beat myself up if it doesn't happen. :) Thanks so much for reading my poem.

Hahaha.... I love your exuberant positivity: "all of these things don't seem that hard to do"... especially after the difficulties of 2020. I like your combination of the serious with the humorous: "2020, we bid you adieu,
don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Ah, I wish I had your optimism. We are already way behind schedule on vaccinations. At this rate it would take a decade to vaccinate enough people to achieve herd immunity. It's been a long hard year behind us and it's looking like 2021 will be a dark journey well before any light at the tunnel. The world needs optimists like you!--Karenina

I love the new year's excitement and anticipation reflected, and that you're facing it honestly ("Though Covid still lingers and masks are a must ...") and hopefully ("I plan on winning the lottery"). This is a very uplifting, feel-good kind of poem, with an important message at the end.
My only question is why you chose an inconsistent rhyme pattern, sometimes doing abab and sometimes abcb. Otherwise, I enjoyed this very much. Good luck in the contest.
