As an introvert married to an introvert, I can really appreciate your essay.the. Myers Briggs test and susan Cain' s book both confirm I am an introvert and have given me much insight. Thank you for this!

    Hi Susan Larson,
Thank you for the insightful comments. I'm glad you liked this piece.
I love it when introverts marry each other. It seems so harmonious. Dating is a pain. I get so tired of, "you're too quiet" comments. I thought guys complained about women talking too much. Sigh.
Yes, I enjoyed Susan Cain's book too. It was very helpful.

Thank you. I?ve lent that book out to several people, it?s funny with the int/ext thing. My husband and I and three of our kids are Is. One son is an E and we never knew how that happened. He?s very successful in sales and we always sit on awe when we hear him talking on the phone or ?working a room? in a crowd.

This was an excellent piece, Debi! I feel very informed and the added details of famous introverts and movies really made me smile. I am definitely an introvert, the day is celebrated everyday by me haha!

We need a day to celebrate our way, don't we? BTW I just found out Mother Teresa was also an introvert too.

Great information, WJ. I had no idea there was a whole day devoted to introverts so the history of the holiday and the distinctions you made between introverts and extroverts were very interesting. Keep up the awesome work.

I had never heard about a day being set apart for introverts. I don't know which one I am, (perhaps a bit of both depending on circumstances) but of course, this epidemic has made most of us introverts. I especially like this paragraph:
"As a group, writers tend to be more introverted. Good thing since writing requires time alone. Also, two introverts can be alone together and be perfectly content not to say a word for hours. They get each other."

    Hi Anne,
Many people change to one or the other depending on the circumstances. That is called an omnivert.
Thank you for pointing out the paragraph you liked best. It helps to know what works.
    Have a great 2021.

LOL!! Love this, my lady! ;) You know, my oldest is an introvert and my middle an Extrovert.... and oh, my goodness this pandemic crap is killing the middle one - ugh! But the oldest just finds more time more easily to be at home and 'do his thing'.... aaaah, yes - the wonderful collection of folks that make our world go round! ;) :) Thanx for sharing, WJ -- so good to be back!! ;) Yvette

    Hi Yvette,
Yes, the extroverts are struggling with the restrictions. I can imagine some heavy partying will occur once they can get with their friends again. Introverts are fairing much better.
Thanks for your insightful comments. Have a great 2021.

Hi again
I did not know I am an introvert till I read your writing. I do not really know but I think I like to be in between. I am the worrying type and when I am worried, I like to be with people. Smile joke and be friendly. Then as a small poet, I like to be alone. I can still write with lots of people around. I could finish a piece of writing in five minutes with people around. Alone, I am dry.

Have a great day. But be safe. God bless

    Hi Benny Beeharry,
Thanks for the insights. I'd say you're probably in extrovert because you get energy from having people around, but you could also be one of those people that jumps back and forth.
Have a wonderful day, and thank you for the excellent review.

-I like the image you chose, Debi.
-I wonder which one the bird is;
he looks like he might be an introvert!
-A well written piece that progresses well,
and is very interesting.
-I have probably taken that test, too.
-I like how you include yourself and your parents.
-I know the pandemic has to be hard on them,
especially being older; it probably causes more
worry than for the average person.
-I wonder if most people come out in
the middle on this test. That is where I
put myself. In the right circumstances I
can be an extrovert, but in others where I
am not so comfortable, I am an introvert.
-I like all of the examples you shared,
and you have an excellent writing style, too.
-It would be interesting to know the
responses you are getting.
-Have a great 2021!!!

    Hi Pam,
Thank you so much for the wonderful comments and the six-star rating. I appreciate your insights.
Helen just reminded me about ambiverts who have traits of both the introvert and extrovert. Also, there is an omnivert who can change back and forth. It sounds like you could be either one of those.
    Have a wonderful 2021!

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Debi. Thanks for sharing about more traits. Maybe when it comes down to it, we're just a mix of this and that!

Happy World Introvert Day! I relate to everything you said. I do believe that most of us introverts are more ambiverts (I wrote about that word: https://www.fanstory.com/displaystory.jsp?hd=1&id=1002072&userid=781545&tf=0)
And some of us know how to switch back and forth and are omniverts. When I'm with someone withdrawn, I'll be more extroverted but if someone is extremely social, I'll become more introverted.
Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Helen,
Thank you for the additional information. I now have to figure out if I am an ambivert or an omnivert. Looks like Meyer-Briggs needs an update. LOL.
Thank you for the fabulous six-star rating and the wonderful review.
reply by lyenochka on 03-Jan-2021
Great information! I took the Meyer-Briggs once and am not sure how accurate it was. We did it as a way of understand how different personalities affected their learning styles.

It's an interesting tool, but I don't think any test can explain every one.

You did a great job expressing your thoughts/feelings/reasons for this day. It is evident you researched the topic well. I enjoyed reading this. I like the information about the Meyers/Briggs test. You made it clear to understand more of its details and results. Thanks for the list of people, books, and 'things' that introverts would enjoy. I hope your day was great--reading a book sounds awesome.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Hi debi. So good to see you start off the New Year so well. I like this post.

I personally love crowds so I think I fall in here: "Extroverts love being around other people. It invigorates them and raises their energy level. Being alone depletes their energy."

But then, I prefer to be alone. So go figure. LOL Bob

    Hi Bob,
Thank you for such an encouraging review.
Introverts can be the life of the party if they are comfortable with the group or the surroundings. Maybe you're on the cusp and can do both the extrovert and the introvert depending on the circumstances.
    Have a great 2021!

Helen just reminded me about ambiverts--they are a balance of introvert and extrovert. I bet that is you.
