This is a wonderful melding of words and artwork. Darkness does sometimes mask hope.
Congratulations of the honorable mention in the contest.

This is an excellent lune poem! It's so hard not to allow our lights to become dim with depression in the wintertime. This candle and your words represent that sinking feeling well. This was my favorite lune poem that I read from this group.

Zanya--Congrats on your recognition for this elegant lune. Glad I caught up to this one. Lovely alliteration: fades/flicker. Stark contrast of light/dark makes this powerful. Cheers. LIZ

As long as there is a flicker, there is hope. We are forever coaxing the flicker to flare. The hope we keep nurturing starts as a flicker until we are able to stir it up to the flare we seek.

That may be true that on dark wintry days, hope seems dim. But as long as there is a flicker, there is the possibility of it springing to life again. Where there is life, there is hope.

Hello Zanya,
So true, even in a flicker of light, there's always hope. Light shines through the darkness always. We have had many dark days in 2020 for sure. We need to stay faithful (the flicker) and know there will be better days in 2021. These three lines are very powerful and the message is clear. Thanks. Happy New Year. Well done.

Hi zanya,
That's when light means the most, when we're engulfed in darkness.
I like your summation, that hope is always there in a single flickering candle. Darkness can't overcome it.
I like the alliteration of "fades to a flicker".
Nicely penned! A great entry for the Lune Poetry contest.
Cheers,
Kimbob

But the flicker is a hope for a soon spring. We all need a great spring after this year. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Nice job with the alliterations especially in the last line, to capture that sense of the candle flame flickering. Your poem speaks of the fragility of life, just hanging on in the surrounding darkness. Much like our own lives hanging on in the depths of the epidemic. estory

Superb reveiw zanya

You've said so much in just a few words. It is so easy for our hopes to fade when confronted with "dark wintry days," and I can definitely relate this to the current times we are living in. I pray it is better soon!
Thank you for sharing!
