Your definition of 'soul' mirrors mine. I feel the mind is nudged by the spirit that is actually the soul. In addition, I would emphasize that our personalities are the extension of the spirited soul. I like what you wrote and so I will vote.

I do think souls connect and reach out sometimes for long periods of time and alternately at times quite briefly.
