This is extremely entertaining, very extreme. It took me a while to work out what a 'pink slip' is in US - a notice of job termination. In New Zealand it would be a woman's pink petticoat undergarment - now that would be rather confusing for a man to receive from his boss!

It's a bit bawdy, but pretty funny and I think its a great use of the archaic song to produce some levity in this different Christmas. The use of the traditional song set to the contemporary lyrics makes it all the more funny. I really liked the blown head gasket, the divorce papers, and the unpaid bills, and the ever repeating refrain of the pink slip hanging in the tree nailed it home. We need a good laugh this year, and this provides it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! estory

I am laughing here. I think you captured all the bad stuff that can happen to one individual. I love the pink slip hanging up on the tree, it started the downslide. Excellent poetic form and a humorous parody. Best wishes for the contest.
