Condolences...
I totally understand the pain of losing a loved one. I lost my brother last year.
When I read this sentence: "God took him home, away.
Why such things happen, mortals cannot say..." sadness fills my heart.
This is a very touched poem.

Dear Goodadvicechan, I am truly sorry for the loss of your precious brother. It is something that you, Jannypan and me, all have in common, unfortunately. For you and Jannypan, the loss is very new; for me, it happened almost 16 years ago. My brother died at the age of 44, very suddenly, in his sleep. I really fell apart at the time, and it took years for me to overcome my grief to a significant degree. My Mom and I will never be the same. My husband and other family members were also very sad. But we have to keep going. It's hard, in the first months and years following a terrible loss. Your mind and heart don't want to accept it; it's very painful.
Thank you for your condolences to Jannypan, your very kind comments and your sharing. God bless you and your family, my friend. May the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit comfort you. - Mary Kay

Wow, such a lovely tribute for Jan on the passing of her brother, Tim. Faith is our only compensation in this kind of loss. Thank you for caring and writing and sharing this. You are an amazing friend. Hugs, Marcia

Thank you for reading and reviewing this, Marcia, and for the six glowing stars. Jan has contributed so much to this site, and she gave so much to make her brother's terminal illness more bearable, and she has suffered so much grief -- that I just didn't feel right until something was done, to show our love and concern for her. Of course, there were many friends praying for Jan, and she was aware of that, but this is a site full of writers, so I felt that we needed to do some kind of tribute as well.
I knew Helen (Lyenochka) had started this book of prayers and poems (which has grown into quite a volume), so this seemed like the best place to do it. Later I learned that Roy Owens also wrote a beautiful poem of faith and comfort for her (and damommy, a/k/a Yvonne, who recently lost her son) on 12/4/20 (not knowing about the book Helen started), and then Ulla did a comforting haiku in the book, also, in the chapter after mine. So now I feel peace about it, and will continue to keep both Jan and Yvonne in my prayers.
Yes, "This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." - I think it's in 1 John? I love 1 John, so packed with love and truth, one of my favorite books of the Bible.
Then there is John 14-17, when Jesus introduces the Holy Spirit as the Paraclete, or Comforter -- how amazing! What a mighty God we serve!
Have a blessed and Merry Christmas, Marcia, with your family, and may you all stay safe and well throughout the New Year. Love always, Mary Kay xoxo

An excellent poem dedicated to Jan's brother Tim. I knew from one her works about his battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Rest in peace, Jim, your pain and suffering on earth are over. This is a great paean to Jan, her sisterly love, her dedication and devotion in staying by his bedside. I am offering my deep condolences to Jan and wishing her strength and courage in this difficult time of beveavement.
Thank you for sharing this very special poem.

I cannot imagine Jan's grief. I am deeply respectful of your created form and the love with which you wrote it and explained the situation--for those of us who do not or did not know of Jan's brother's struggle and her deep devotion to caring for her brother. Grief has no clock...it will take as long as it needs to for Jan to feel something beyond a great loss...and I am sure all on site understand whatever she posts or reviews must be on her own time, when she is ready. As for faith--like you--and as an RN who witnessed far too many of these untimely deaths--I absolutely have come to believe that hearing is the last sense to go--and Jan's brother could hear her long after he may have been able to communicate. I believe, also, that he is in God's arms now, free from pain and in God's time they will be reunited. God bless YOU for caring so much as to post this! As for Jan? I do not know you, but my prayers join with many others for your brother's peace and for your bereavement to be tinged sooner rather than later, with quiet smiles as you reflect on his memory... Karenina

Thank you, Karenina, for your beautiful, prayerful and very sensitive review of my poem and Notes. As someone in the nursing profession, I have no doubt that you have seen far more suffering and death, than the average person, and as a believer, you have the love that is needed to respond with compassion, time after time. You also understand how we share an unfailing hope in the life to come. Thank you for responding to Jan, through this post. May God bless you mightily as you continue doing your work for Him, and may He protect you and your family always. Merry Christmas! Love, Mary Kay xoxo

All we can do is express our feelings through writing, and pray. Yes, we wish things were different. Some day they will be, when Jesus returns. Until then, we will hang on, and be there for one another.

This poem for Jannypan is a nice gesture as she deals with this loss of her brother Tim. We all join in this prayer for her comforting.
