How this resounds with me:
I was once told we can only take knowledge and truth with us when we leave this overcoat we call our body. Since then I have tried to learn and appreciate as much as I can, especially as I'm in my early (or late) winter years. We don't know how long we can keep our bodies going, but we do know how to continue filling that computer in our heads with new knowledge, and that's what I'm doing. Your poem made me think deeply, and the line: We're Avatars of our Spirit... makes so much sense. In future that is how I will describe myself. I enjoyed reading your poem, and as always with your work, it makes me think.
Well done, Sandra xx

A very well-written poem which hits the nail on its head! We are all aware of the problem, but feign ignorance! Look the other way! The truth is all around us. We have to really open our eyes to see what ails the world we are living in today! We should adhere to the basic 'mantras' of life. Truth. Honesty. Tolerance and last but not the least Love for fellow beings! Thanks for sharing!

A very well-written poem about making truth our motto is the best policy we can have. When we tell lies we are often caught and it is hard to explain why we lied instead of the truth.

My high school motto -many moons ago - was To Thine Own Self Be True. But, which self? Your poem explores the realms of reality and delusion that coexist in our hearts, minds and souls. In our journey through life, some do endeavor to seek truth. Many do not. they never grow,. are never set free. And in the end, do not know who they really are. Thank you for such a thought-provoking piece.

Cogitator,

Well, personally, I have always thought your penname was well-conceived. *smile* You don't just cogitate my mind (I picture one my grandmas; old ringer washing machines - swish this way, swish that...

I try to keep up, but my tiny little brain often falls short.

At first, I thought you were going down a political trail - the first verse seemed to start those thoughts directly. Then sharp left.

Which this ended up being for me was one of those - 'what the devil is this ting called life?!' 'And why do we bother?' hahaha

Since many folks think all thoughts end at death - it does make one question. For those of us who believe there is something brighter and better - we keep hanging on -- and desperately sometimes, too. *smile*

Thanks for a thought piece. Lots of meat here. Have a marvy day!

First it is a well rhyme work. But most important it serves as a lesson to the reader to be reflective, learn and realize that they are the writer and director of their own lives with truth as the driver. Being honest with one self leads to a more productive life.
The message is strong and clearly written to inspire your reader.
Regards,
Mary

"Truth is best' seems such an obvious thing for people to do, yet for many it is elusive through their own lack of common sense, holding to fixed ideas... I agree with the lines in your poem about thought not meant to be fixed - the movie analogy is very appropriate and carried through as a motif to considerable effect. We should all be directors of our own lives and thoughts, yet many hand over that task to blind allegiance of the cult mentality. Being taught something doesn't mean we shouldn't question it.

I absolutely loved this piece :)

One of the lines I liked the most "Our lives are like moving pictures, Each frame depicts a frozen thought". I liked the mention of us being directors, editing, and the premiere. A very good comparison of our life to a movie. The philosophical first half was good too, but I personally preferred the second the most.

Wishing you the best,
George
