I love the photo you selected to enhance the atmosphere of your words.
It reminds me of foggy mornings rolling in by our camp on the lakeside in Maine,
This should be a contender in the contest.

Evocative poem. Fog does have a damp smothering feel as well as the appearance of a heavy cloud. I like the personification..

This is a good write.
