RIGHT ON! This is a well written five line humorous poem that tells it like it is! You sound like someone that I can relate to. Please pass the chocolate sauce - LOL - Jerry

Thanks for your nice review - and possbily your vote. I won second
place, but that means less than hearing from fellow rule breakers. I am the kind of guy both your momma and your wife told you to avoid. But, there is no reason to live forever if life is no fun, right? Check in at Christmas - I really misbehave then.

Your words cracked me up with their honesty, so I voted for your poem. What is the point of having a feast of abundant thanksgiving unless we enjoy eating it!!?? Deep fried anything is SOOOO delicious. We know it's bad for us, but we also know that anything bad for us is delicious, so why hold back haha. I am envious of your indulgent behavior - we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in my country so I'll have to wait till Christmas to make a pig of myself.

Always great to hear from you, LisaMay! Thanks for your vote - it assured me of 2nd place. Reading that I cracked you up is the big prize. Hey, there is no reason to live forever if life is no fun. You Aussies know that! You all party well, even if you are in Kiwi land. Since I love both places, please tell me what part of Oz yu are from and what part of New Zealand is your area now? How I would love to return for a visit, but just don't have any more 13 hour plane rides in me. Thanks again. Check in with me at Christmas - I have even worse behavior then!

Hi Reese - i live down south in the South Island at a place called Dunedin, a university city with lovely historic buildings and situated around a harbour that is teeming with wildlife - penguins, seals, albatrosses. We are a UNESCO city of literature. population around 124,000... I love living here.

Oh, lucky you. Don't remember making it to Dunedin, but did a couple of visits to Invercargill on business. Of course, looked it up and you are just 400 k south of my beloved Akaroa. If I won the lotto, you would find me there! When I went to the South on business, I included a weekend in Akaroa. Now, the other question, because I love Oz too, since I did not meet you along the chain up Ularu, nor on a golf course outside Perth where we had to play thru the roos, nor in Sydney or Melbourne, what part of Oz is home for you?

Canberra was my home city. It's a good place - Aussies like to criticize it because the federal Government at Parliament House is there - but i grew up there and think well of it, although i haven't lived there for nearly 40 years, I visit regularly (well... used to pre-covid.)

One of the few cities I never visited. Of course, my business was industrial plastics used in marine fendering and mining. If you remember Hemingway's "Old Man and the Sea" and how he would dream of, in his day, seeing the Lions play on the African coast. I am he in my memories and dreams of the Emus and Kangaroos on the fairways of golf courses I played in Australia. When I get to Heaven's gate, I would hope St Peter will ask me, "So, Texan, what did you like best about your life on earth?" I will likely answer, "Too many to remember, but let me start with Australia..." Thanks for letting an old man tell you of his love for down-under. Merry Christmas

I'm really pleased that you have such warm memories of Australia and NZ Akaroa. It's a pity you can't make it back to New Zealand and come to visit Dunedin... we have some wonderful local courses here. You'd love Queenstown too.
I've never been to Texas.... closest I got was Arizona.
May you and yours have an enjoyable and safe Christmas.

This is hilarious! A deep fried turkey sounds rather calorie laden! Cookies, candies and pies too! The diet had better wait until after Christmas so do your worst! This is a lot of fun, love Doll x

Good morning. I am the poster boy for "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". The holidays ending will not end my bad habits. We get thru winter with chili, stews and shepherds' pie, then Spring and cold beer, bar-b-q and nachos. They say Heaven is a perfect place. Does that mean they have bacon there? Thanks for stopping by. Merry Christmas

What a cute, humorous poem you have written. I had a good chuckle when I read it for I know several people who would like to express the same sentiment. Great job on this and good luck in the contest.

Thanks AnnieDawn. This was a self-portrait for me. The sponsr put a short fuse on it and I think the effort will be wasted as it is short of minimum with just minutes to go. Oh well, was fun to write and get your nice review. Merry Christmas
