Hi Sal.

That's a nasty looking picture. That's quite a story you experienced. I can imagine the thoughts that ran through your mind. You told the story well because I was thinking even worse, although how could anyone leave an animal like that.

Good story. Good luck in the contest.

You Pal Z

I felt so nasty after being in the house for just a few minutes. How people live in such filth is beyond me. That poor dog! Sending you my best today as always,

That would be a very disturbing event. Nothing shocks me anymore.

What a story, Sally. You did an excellent joy bringing your reader into the story with appropriate buildup and then a dramatic turning point at the end. Well done and good luck.

How awful for the poor dog, and how awful for you to find something like that. That agent deserved an earful from you, even two or three earfuls. I have a neighbor two doors down who are NOT responsible pet owners. It breaks my heart. I have been known to report her for some instances.

Thank you for the excellent review and insightful comments, dear Yvonne. I really thought it was a human. I felt so badly for the dog. It didn't need to me that way. I let that Realtor have it! Sending you my best today as always,

This truly is a horror story. As an animal lover with all rescued pets, it infuriates me that people can be so diabolical. Well written and packs a punch. I commend you for your action taken to report the realtor who was so slipshod. God bless the animals who suffer so much. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

Thank you for the wonderful review and generous six star rating, dear Marilyn. It is greatly appreciated.

Yes, this really was a horror story and I marked it appropriately. I felt so badly for the dog. I can't even wrap my brain around that really. How could someone do that to a living creature? I think I went as far as I could go with the real estate person that was involved in the other brokerage. We realtors can file complaints against each other and I did so.

Decaying flesh will smell a house, like forever, Sally. Once it gets into your nose it is hard to get it off, even on the clothes it lingers. Yet, a person that leaves a poor animal to die... stinks even worse. I'm sorry you had to go thru that. Good entry for the True Story Flash.

Thank you for the excellent review of my flash, dear poet. Death and mold are hard to abate, but I've tackled them all as both a Realtor and house flipper. I retired my license in 2012 due to my eyesight loss, and now sit as co-owner of my family's business, mainly as a figurehead, and write. Mostly, I write. Sending you my best today as always with many thanks for the review,

This is a real true-to-life frightening horror story. I could almost hear your high-heels clicking on a cement driveway. When my husband and I sold a house, a realtor came to inspect the property before posting a "for sale" sign. Your story, along with the photo and video enhanced the reader's experience. Well done.

Quite a story! Heartbreaking notes. Heads up re word count--are you certain that judges will let you count compound adjectives multi-county and cobweb-lined as single words? To CYA, esp. given that you're at the max., sugg: real estate professional [omit: for many years].

I've heard of this from a person who discovered a body eaten by the trapped cats, which means I'd never want to be a real estate agent. I think you could actually add just a bit more to this. Mention the heat and gloom from drawn rag curtains or the jungle outside. Join the first and second sentence for a paragraph. Tell a tiny bit about your clients. Tell us who won the race down the drive. Maybe add your shaky call to the sheriff and what it really was. Don't know if that last part would be better or not. Anyway, you had a very uncool adventure and I'm glad you wrote about it. You're perfectly free to ignore everything I've said. I just like to add more horror.

Thank you for the excellent review and comments, dear Caol. This is a flash fiction with a tight word count between 98-102. Anything more (or less) would disqualify me from the contest.
Sending you my best today as always,

A real to life horror story. It is truly mind gripping with spine tingling tension. It had me caught in its web from the first few words. Your picture and video were spot on with the storyline. Wonderful job.

This is sad is would definitely be terrifying. And that house would probably never sell at least not before a proper investigation into finding out what happened. It's a very interesting story, just sad and I feel bad for the dog.
