Hilarious--what a twist--took me by surprise--glad I didn't skip this--normally I pass on fantasy stuff but I just finished reading your delightfully clever vampire story and knew I wouldn't be disappointed! This may well be a winner!

(Puts me in mind of a real event--marine scientists captured a rare blue lobster--painstakingly examined and documented--then boiled the thing for supper)

Lol, ate it for supper, huh? Haha. Thank you for the excellent review, Elizabeth. This is one of those stories that I wrote strictly to get a silly ending in there. I love to shoot people's happy ending hopes down on here. Haha. I knew a couple people would get a chuckle out of it and that's all I'm going for. I really appreciate the gracious stars, E. I'm glad you liked the piece. Thank you again.

Dear Mystery Writer,

STOP IT. That was not the ending I was expecting. But I can totally see some crazy power-mad dictator thinking that everything and everyone is, at his whim, to be used or discarded, at his own pleasure.

Clever, clever -- and so far my favorite in the booth! Good luck~

Lol. Yeah, I based the whole story just so I could use the last line. I couldn't just give it a pretty, happy ending like everyone was expecting. lol Thank you for the fantastic review and generous stars, Robyn. I'm glad you liked the piece even with the ridiculous ending. I hope you have a great weekend.

So, one unicorn is worth 300 men. I wonder if it was the king's intention or a 'misteak' on the part of Capt. Matir to get the cook to dish it up? I kinda knew you would kill that beautiful creature off (precedent has been set), but how you got there was clever writing.... good dialogue, wow-factor action with wizardry, and a nasty reveal at the end.

Lol. "misteak" Thank you for the great review, Lisa. You're pretty much the only one who mentioned about the king thinking that it was worth sacrificing 300 men for a unicorn steak. lol As always, I appreciate the great review and gracious stars, L. I hope all is well on your side of the world.

Your story was very well-written. It flowed really well and the dialogue seemed true to the time (as far as I can tell from other readings I've done, having not been there in person :)
I very much like the myth of unicorns.
All the way through reading it I was afraid something would happen to the unicorn. I had come to think he would be alright.
But, alas, no...he is to be some King's random fancy.
The surprise ending may have made it a better story objectively speaking, but it only made me sad. If the unicorn had lived, I would have remembered your story fondly.
As it is, for me, your story, though well-written, is more easily forgetable.
Your writing skill is quite evident, though.

Yes, not all people view humor the same way. Some like it, some don't. We all wish life came with beautiful, happy endings to every story, but the sad truth is, it doesn't. I'm sure we'll all find things easily forgettable when they don't turn out like we hoped. Thank you for the review and stars, Cynthia. Hopefully the next story has a happy ending.

Oh, pardon me, Sire. How do you want your unicorn steak cooked? Hahahaha!

This was a great little story with a hilarious, twist ending. Story development was excellent and you smoothly and effortlessly led us to your killer (albeit out there) ending which I enjoyed very much.

Also, your art drew me into this post. Your unicorn is glorious and using Clive Owen as Captain Matir really intrigued me.

This is a great (and original) entry into this contest advertisement and I wish you luck in the booth. You'll have my vote. Thanks for the fantasy escape. My favorite! Well done!!

Thank you for the fantastic review and big sixer, Lynda. I really only used the picture of Clive Owen because that's the only google image that matched what I was trying pull off in the picture. I know that this is a still from a movie but it worked for what I needed it for. I'm glad you had a chuckle at my ridiculous ending. Again, thank you for the stars. I'm glad you liked my little tale. Have yourself a wonderful weekend.

This fiction, a contest entry for I believe, speaks a mystic fantasy taletelling about the last unicorn, the dialogues are realistic, with a catchy beginning and mystery revelation ending; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

Very witty. It's just as well there's no special attachment to the last unicorn, with its mystical powers, this is so well written with great characters and a very worthy plot that takes us into interesting places, beautifully written, 300 men, well done my friend, blessings Roy
