I thought this was interesting. Isn't fate something that is already dictated? So I'm not sure about that final word. It kinda confused me. But your poem sure made me think! So great job on that.

Thank you for the review on this shortie - glad you had a moment to think...
Comment from Michele Harber
What a clever poem, and an amazing use of the eight syllables. You're so right that fear shouldn't determine fate. I'm actually living by your rules as, when I lost my office job, rather than looking for another, I decided to learn the ins and outs of getting work published and trying to make a living as a writer. I actually have five poems coming out in print this year, three in magazines and two in a poetry anthology.
I love your picture of the bird too afraid to join the flock. It fits your words beautifully, and your background and text color choices highlight the picture. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for the encouragement. It helped to have a supportive family and seven months of full-salary severance!
I've read some of the other 1-6-1's, and yours is still the best I've seen so far. Fingers crossed for you.

You made excellent use of title/desc. to provide context for poem--so many people fail to take advantage of the free space--so important esp in 1/6/1--of which few syllables you made the most of--in fine rhyme!

Oh my word, I just love the one six ones and this is deliciously delightful with the artwork of the cranes.
Exactly right on and so true. Excellent entry into the contest and good luck in the booths.
