Thank you for taking us along on that drive to the countryside with you in this wonderful free verse. Those impressions that you captured both of nature and people who live close to nature, producing honey and jam and pumpkins for sale. Enjoyed your lovely descriptions!

I enjoyed this, and I believe you achieved your goals for this piece. You have captured that escape, that refreshment and rejuvenation that we all need from time to time, to balance out the "duties" of this life. Well done.

Oh yes indeed, you do what we like to do, Elaine and I, drive in the countryside, our winter green tends to turn to summer yellow, and the attractiveness of the countryside tends to turn to not so attractive. I love the language and the presentation, and as all your poetry is, entertaining, good imagery and language, well done, blessings Roy

I really enjoyed the journey...thanks for taking me with you! Autumn truly is the highlight of the year. Like you, I am happiest wandering off the beaten track and truly appreciating the colors, the brisk cool wind, the Monet painting of leaves glimmering in the sunshine... Not so many roadside stands of jams and honey and such...(darn Covid)--but ah, the old farmhouses! It has been one of my favorite respites from quarantine and stay-at-home orders...for in my won car I am not putting anyone at risk and oh, the view lifts my spirits!--Karenina

Your poem is chock full of wonderful sensory images.
"untrekked woods brushed with the wild honey, amber and burgundy
distilled out of clean air, earth and water
seem broken only by ragged cornfields"...
(by itself is worth the price of admission. :)
I also like:
"slow you down
into the trails of horses and buggies."
"the mysterious summits of the mountains
rising like altars around you."
(to mention a few.)
The only thing I would change if I were you is to remove "out of this place" from the last jine.
I think just: "or the way back." is a stronger last sentence. Sometimes less is more.
I would give you six stars if I could.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your detailed notes on what worked for you. I tried to work on details in this collection, creating colorful images with texture taste and smell to them, trying to make them more three dimensional. Put you in the scene more. Kind of like pastoral romantic on steroids, if you will estory

Oh, I did enjoy this easy to read poem. I could almost smell the coffee as I was "seeing" the words through your eyes. You did a great job!

You created a unique scene here of the country and the magical sights to behold when we open our eyes and let nature into our soul, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

This poem really takes me back. Back to a time that was more simple and less bullshit. It truly captures country living from "the old days." My favorite lines: up into the simple places, the forgotten mountains,
the mountain farms in the middle of nowhere.
Out here, long stretches of untrekked woods
brushed with the wild honey, amber and burgundy
