This sounds like my state of Vermont. I think as you say, the Maple trees need to rest. They've been busy being beautiful, giving sap, inspiring poetry welcoming their new leaves and then saying good-bye. Thank you.

This is an excellent entry for the 3-5-3 contest on nature.
Topical subject with the autumn leaves falling.
Nice touch of personification
with the tree sleeping.
