You've written this in such a way that I can see the colors and taste the different flavors. Yum for sure. I think earlier, they were a penny. It was amazing what we got for a penny. Sometimes 10 pieces of candy for one penny. Imagine how many pieces of candy we walked out with in the 50's. I'm voting for this one.

I am lucky if I create one 5-7-5! I don't remember the BB Bats from youth, but the various flavors are quite appealing and were affordable. Thanks for sharing your "sticky" memories! Smiles- Joan

I've not tried these sweets myself but they do sound delicious - vanilla would be my choice to gnaw and chaw. Your control of the 5-7-5 format and skillfull rhyme scheme is top quality.

I remember these in the penny candy store, three blocks from where we used to live. What a sweet memory. Yes, there used to be penny candy stores! Good luck in the contest.

This 5-7-5 suite, BB Bats: Four Flavors of Yum, has the proper four-stanza formatting and includes the legendary candy's flavors in this fun poem.

I don't think I ever heard of B B Bats. Perhaps they weren't in the U.S. or at least in my part of the U.S.
I thought your poem was fun. You would have made a good salesman for the product, because you really seem to love them.
My favorite line was the end of the first stanza: "Five cents for a smile" What a bargain!
Nice job. Good luck in the contest.

Dear Mystery Writer,

Oh, yeah! I remember these treats well. Though we called them something different in the States. I can't remember what it is now, though. Thanks for the smile!

Hi Mystery Poet,
You did very well with your entry in the 5-7-5 Sweet Stack. I don't recall this particular candy wrapper, but the size and shape reminds me of a type of candy kiss, a molasses taffy we used to have in these parts. My wife and daughter won't let me eat candy kisses because I almost choked to death on one years ago. Cut my windpipe right off.
I think you could do this contest with pancakes, too, as a 5-7-5 Short Stack.
I count 5-7-5 syllables in all four verses. And they are all sweet & chewy in 4 flavors... chocolate, banana, strawberry, and vanilla. I'm glad it's Halloween and the candy is close by!
Good Luck!
Cheers,
Kimbob
