It must have been a horrible life to be constantly worrying. To lose all his friends for doing it should have let him know he needed psychiatric help for this and maybe suicide and that last thought could have be averted.
I wish his last thought would of been "Now I don't have to worry anymore."
Interesting artwork.
Congrats on placing third in hte contest, Bill.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Congrats on your prize! Glad I caught up to this one--what an ending--of course, we'd never know, though I would expect some suicides might have mundane thoughts pop in last second. Clever flash! Cheers. LIZ

Herb certainly is the quintessential worrier, worrying even as he jumps off the bridge. Your story has an underlying message, Bill, reminding us that there are too many people out there who need help and support. Rod

You paint a grim image in the beginning make us feel sorry for the guy, relate to all his worrying. Your ending, what a twist. I didn't expect that at all.

This story had an interesting twist. Herb's worrying had driven everyone away. Wanting to be well thought of, he pressed his suit so he would look good when found. His final thought was to worry, which is what originally drove everyone away. This was very creative. Best wishes in the contest.

I am sad for this man and sad when a person can see no purpose to keep on living. We can always find a way to contribute and be a part of what is good.

Ok, considering that his main concern as he jumped off the bridge was hot iron shows that his head wasn't in the right place. He wore his best suit too so his suicide has something to do with vanity issues.

I?d say people jumping off a bridge are likely not mentally healthy.

This is a great entry for the Dribble Flash Fiction contest. The surprise ending was a shock. This is bound to do well, so I wish you the best of luck.
