It's over already? I thought it would be another week! I'm sorry I didn't save a six for this. You did a super job with this book and it was a lot of hard work and you showed us that you can do it -- write a compelling action book with a strong Biblical message about how good people can suffer and still keep their faith.
My favorite part was Cody worrying about what if he can't love another woman like he loved Pam. That's such a real fear for people getting into a relationship after losing someone. And Jack gave the perfect answer.
Enjoyed the brothers' banter. Loved the part about Orion (for us in the far north we don't always see Orion) and how cute that Katie hid her dad's cane!

Thank you, Helen! You hung in there for the whole thing and I appreciate that more than you know. I'm going through reviews from the beginning to make sure I didn't miss anything and re-read your review of the first chapter last night. At that point I wasn't sure you continue reading and/or enjoy the book. I"m glad you did, though. Your reviews have been invaluable to me, as has your encouragement. Wish I could invite you over for bbq and tea, but my gratitude will have to do for now. :)
I appreciate that you found Jack's answer to Cody's concerns to be on point. It was an important to me to get that right.

And the scene with Katie was inspired by my dad. He was in a car accident and was told he'd never walk without a cane again. One day he'd walked out to the workshop, put in several hours and decided to go back up to the house for lunch. He couldn't find his cane so he wandered up to the house looking for it. Back to the workshop, back to the house, still looking. Finally, my stepmom pointed out that, if he'd been walking without it, why was he still looking. He did find it eventually. Six months later, he reached for a piece of welding rod and grabbed his cane! He threw it away. lol He's in Heaven now, but I think that bit would make him chckle. :)
Blessings and hugs, my friend. We'll make those 'warm hugs' considering the temperature outside today! lol

Big Warm Hugs back, Deb! I am so happy that you completed this book. We need Christian writers to show the reality of life's harshness and how to walk in faith with it. Yours doesn't have that sugarcoated feel that many Christian books have. So keep us posted when it's published! 💖
reply by the author on 27-Oct-2020
I never have figured out why the sugar-coating is needed. Who are we trying to kid!
I will keep you in the loop, for sure. Would you be willing to write an amazon review for me when I get ready to launch? If not, no worries at all.
Stay warm! It was 89 here 2 days ago. NOw it's 32...ALL DAY1 Yuck.

Deb,

It worked. The whole stinking thing worked and WELL. The spiritual part, the family parts, the romance parts, the plot parts... you name it.

I liked it so much! It might be a bit short for a true novel, but I expect it feel around 50,000 words or so? A good novella-novel.

I can't wait to see it in print and get my copy signed by the author. Go for it! The six is for the whoooollle book and I wish it could be more!

Robyn, I truly oculd not have gotten it done wihtout your help. Your ability to read and edit were invaluable. You pushing me to do better made it better. I'm going through it again now, doing the fine-tooth thing and making sure I didn't miss anything. Then I'm going to look for a traditionalpubisher but, if I dont find one that is a good fit for the book, I'll self-publish next year. and you bet you get a copy! I may just have to bring it to you myself. :)
    Blessings and warmest hugs,

If that's it, then I have to give you another six star review. I looked forward to the chapters and you never disappointed. I assume you intend to publish this wonderful book.

What a blessing you've been to me through this process! I so appreciate the ratings, but more importantly for the finished work, your catches when I made my many errors. :)
I do hope to publish. I'm torn between self-publishing and submitting to a house. I'm not sure this is what 'traditional' Christian publishing houses would be looking for, but I'm a HORRIBLE marketer. lol But thank you for acting like that's just the assumed next step.
I'm going to take a break from novels for a few weeks and start another up in the New Year and hope you'll be willing to help with that one, too. :)
    Blessings and, again, many thanks.

Hahah! Jack is too funny! And Cody he's starting a new life with Abbey. Aww, that's so sweet. And I like how you wrote it where time had passed and skipped to the part where he was going on a date with Abbey. And their mother is with Lt Henry? I forgot who that was, lol. But I loved the way it ended, with Jack telling him he needed a vacation, (one that hopefully doesn't go wrong) and gets smacked in the head. And Katie... she's just trying to help out her dad by hiding his cane. (She doesn't want him to get old just yet, lol) I only noticed one typo: Cody looked down at the (flor)
I'm sad it ended but congrats! You've finished! And please tell me where I can get a copy. I want the physical book, lol. And also where can I find the first book of finding Orion? Do I just search it?

Anyway, congrats again! (You've definitely crossed a might ocean Deb!)

(I'll be sending you the message with my story soon!:)

Oh, I'm SO glad you caught the tie back into the beginning of this misadventure! I was worried it was too obscure, but decided that was the ending I wanted, so that's the ending it has unless I decide to go with a traditional publisher and their editor thinks it's off. Of course, there's not another ending in my head at this point, so...they may have to write it on their own! And I may self-publish, anyway, which makes my ending perfect. lol

I fixed the error - thank you. Itchy trigger fingers, I think.
Than you for the extra star. It was such a kindness!
There is no other Looking for Orion. The '2' was to keep it straight in my own mind, since this was a second stab at this story. I've got an idea dancing around in the back of my mind for an actual sequel, with Michael and Travis accused of a crime and their dads having to solve the case to save their boys. It would be a very different take on 'action' without so much violence. It's very rough, so I'm not sure it will ever come to be, but it's nudging me... lol.
I can't wait to read your mystery! Send it on when you can.
And thank you again for all your help with this book. You did a lot of cheerleading and proofreading for me and I appreciate it so much.
    Blessings and warm hugs!

Aww, you're soo welcome Deb! I think you should self-publish, and thanks for clearing up the Looking For Orion 2 thing. :) That sequel sounds just as intriguing as this book was! I'd pursue the idea but it's yours so hey! It's all up to you. And I love cheering and encouraging you! Let me know when I can buy it please! I've been telling my brother about it and he likes it. He also said that your nickname could be the 'DebSter' lol! Don't worry I'll send it soon! You're welcome!

This is a terrific chapter. The back and forth between Cody and Jack was fantastic. The dialogue was natural and this story flowed easily at a good pace. Great job - well written.

Thank you, Michael. I"m glad it seemed natural. I always get such weird looks from the family as I sit and speak the dialogue aloud, but it's the only way I know to make it natural. Glad the looks were worth it. Lol.

The sixth star seems so appropriate after looking up at Pam's Orion, Debs. Congratulations on finishing this wonderful story, I've enjoyed every chapter. It's been quite a roller-coaster of emotions, but in the end, all is well. It was lovely, my friend. Well done! I'll miss the family, they are exactly what a family should be like. Caring and looking out for each other. Warm hugs, and love! Sandra xx
