You've handled a serious topic with humor in this well constructed poem. Everyone is having to make adjustments to a masked life, so I think your dream also was a funny response as we try to deal with the awfulness of the situation with black humor. Still... the perks don't quite outweigh the gravity. Ya gotta laugh, and you provided some chuckles.

    Thanks, Lisa.
nope, nary a perk, really, so humor is the best revenge. There are several funny emails circulating about it, however - some really funny.
    Thanks again, Katharine.

I just wanted to tell you I went back-and-forth between the winner of that funny contest and yours and voted for yours because it truly resonated with me. I wear eye make up, and that's it. See if you can read my poem called Meow. It was supposed to be in the contest but I screwed up when I entered it so I didn't make it. But they still kept my 5.5 member dollars. I don't know how I would've done in the contest but the reviews were good. Keep writing! I always like your poetry.

That's a shame, Terry. That's happened twice to me, lately! maddening. Will certainly read your Meow.
Thanks for your very nice comments and for voting for me!!!

Nice entry for this contest! It is perfectly real and fits like a glove as "not funny but funny" premise. Mask has come to stay (at lease in several Countries of this "new" World), so we have to "face it".
Picture is very expressive!
Good job!

    Ha! the pun! very good.
Thank you for your nice comments.
I sincerely hope you are wrong about the masks being here to stay. Many prominent physicians have strongly stated that they should not be mandatory as there are places and situations where they are not needed and our schools should be open! They also say that lockdowns are more harmful than the virus. Another one would destroy us, economically.

    You´re welcome, pome lover!!

I fully agree with your comments about not using masks for much longer and "non ethernal" lockdowns. I am in contact with psychologists that expresses what you state: Long lockdowns will have psychical consequences that cannot be estimated now; and closed schools will impact sociability of coming generations. I said that "has arrived to stay" figurately. We hope (and you may fully agree) that vaccines will erase not only the virus but these bitter part of our lives...

Have a great week, pome lover!

Thank you, and a lovely weekend to you, too.
Did you know that Kamala Harris has said on TV that if Trump wins the election they are "coming after his supporters"? And that Antifa and BLM are making plans to do that as we speak? And my city is on the list.

You`re welcome for your nice wishes, pome lover!
I was a bit off the news as a relative had symptoms and we were very careful to avoid more infections of Covid.
    Thanks for commenting.

I hope you all stay well. I am not belittling the importance and scariness of Covid, just the tactics of the Left, concerning it. I hope your relative doesn't have it, but if so, recovers quickly.

Thank you for your nice Wishes, pome lover!! They are really appreciated. Despite result was negative, it was hard for all of us and we´re still recovering. Isolation with family is soimething hard to face.

Again, thanks for your nice intentions!

I imagine it would be. none of my family lives here (sadly), but that does eliminate that situation.

    Yes, you´re right, pome lover!
We may call it The "goods and bads" of being somewhat away from relatives...

Have a nice time, pome lover!

We are all in the same boat. At least the mask hides my double chin, I gained weight, and like not wearing makeup, I don't care. Hopefully this will be over soon, but not to soon, I have a lot to do.

I hope it's over soon, too! i think a lot of us gained weight, thank heavens for bulky sweaters.
When you said you have a lot to do, do you mean when it's over you have to return to work and you need more off time?
reply by jaded831 on 28-Oct-2020
    You got that right.

A very well-written poem about the funny side of wearing a mask to prevent the spread of the virus. We do wear the mask just because we must and not to get arrested because not wearing one. It wil be much worse to end up in jail.

Thank you, Sandra. I appreciate your nice words and I want to apologize up front for getting into this, but I feel I need to explain my reaction to and position on getting arrested for not wearing a mask. To me, that is ludicrous when Antifa and BLM loot and burn and destroy and beat people up and are threatening on TV to come after Trump supporters after the election if he wins. Why aren't they arrested? Rioters are terrorizing some suburbs already. What about arresting them?
We are so divided it is sickening. Families and friends and churches! have become divided, and most of the media, who are hand in glove with the liberals have blasted their biased vitriol 24/7 on TV. What happens on Nov.3rd will determine our fate- a free country or a socialist one. I am hopeful and also very afraid.

I agree with you, and I pray for you and all my American friends, that everything will work out as God planned. Keep praying my friend.

If only it was all a bad dream! We could wake tomorrow morning and the virus did not exist! But of course this is reality and glasses and masks save lives, this is a fun write and you amused me here, love Dolly x

Thanks, Dolly. I think we need a little humor right now. Everybody's nerves are frayed. Our election is upon us and the outcome will determine our future.

This is hilarious. Many a reader will identify with this poem. The speaker expresses what they'd like to say. Or maybe you give them a sort of permission to go around without make-up. This is well thought out.

So many people feel the very same about this subject, and their reactions are almost identical. I found it amusing, and enjoyed how you handle makeup and masks!

I appreciate your positive and very nice response.
you'd be amazed (at least I was) at the women who don't mind wearing them and sort of act like I shouldn't mind, either.

A very cute and funny poem about wearing masks. Everything you said is true and it's good we can see the humor in it. I figure since the bottom of our faces are covered, there's no need to have to go to the dentist anymore since no one sees our smiles! Good luck with the contest!

That's so cute and you made it funny while even making a social commentary about our times. Now I think I can imagine the rest of people's faces as I've gotten used to masks - I don't see the masks anymore.
Best wishes in the contest!

I heard somewhere that there are clear masks so you CAN see the person's whole face. 'Course I don't remember where I heard/saw it.
Thanks for your comments, Helen. Much appreciated.
