A lovely little poem reminding ask the reason for winter. As a young child I felt sad when thinking that plants were dying... once I learned that this it's time for rest and regeneration, I embraced the blessings of winter.

Winter Dreams Come True
by Ulla

Hello, Ulla,

Beautiful entry for the Renga book. Your couplet fits well with the 5/7/5. Would you please add the instructions to your author notes?

Renga is a Japanese collaborative poetry form in which poets write alternating verses of 5-7-5 stanzas and 7-7 couplets which are linked in succession by multiple poets. Only the first 5/7/5 is a haiku; the rest 5/7/5 stanzas are only restricted to syllable count. Renga is older than haiku.

Please, if you would like to add a chapter to this book of renga, read these instructions then copy and paste to your author notes. If you need help, please do not hesitate to contact Gypsy Blue Rose.

Steps to Post a Chapter:

click on the ADD CHAPTER icon, located above the review box.

If the last poem is a 5/7/5 stanza, write a 7/7 couplet, if the last poem is a 7/7 couplet write a 5/7/5 stanza. Write about the SAME THEME of the previous chapter but please don't REPEAT words.

Post your poem as usual but it will be part of the book. A copy will go to your portfolio and you keep your reviews.

(If you would like to read the previous chapters, copy and paste this link to your browser).

Thank you!

I'm so ready to watch it snow. It snowed a little bit the other day. However, I was at work and missed it. Today it's raining, and the rain is nice, but I'm ready for the snow. Your poem just emphasized that for me.

Hi. Thank you so very much for a great review, and I'm glad you liked it. I will have to admit that I hate snow and winter in general. I'm a warm weather person, and fortunately I live where we have hot summers and very mild winters. Ulla:)))

You caught the sense of the softness and the peacefulness of the snow falling and then tied it in with the sleep of winter, tied it in to a human experience. There's a great oriental feel to this, nice balance, nice musical elements to the language and a strong nature image. estory

A beautiful addition to the Renga book, Ulla. The cool crispness of winter is delivered with atmospheric intensity while at the same time leaving room for motion.

Many thanks for sharing today. :)

Winter dreams come true, but only if you don't get caught out barefooted in your PJ's freezing your butt off. Snuggled up under a mountain of blankets listening to the wind whistle, knowing you're safe inside. Thanks for sharing.

That hasn't happened here yet, but it probably isn't that far off. Your poem is well-written. Your great description paints a vivid picture in the reader's mind.

Thanks a lot, Misty, and it won't even happen where I live. But I grew up in Scandinavia where it would happen in a few weeks time. I don't miss it. Ulla:)))

Ulla:
This is such a tender poem about the painful transition from the three stellar seasons, then onto winter--which is dreadful, except for a handful of holidays occurring throughout this time.
Exceptional work.
Good luck,
Cindy

Thank you for adding to the Renga book. Your 7-7 couplet captures the mood perfectly. (I think "fall" does not need an "s" in the first line." The artwork is quite striking as well. Smiles- Joan
