Ah, but there is some joy in just the wonder and perhaps it wasn't years that was wasted. Beautiful sedoka which gives both a physical admiration for the stars and a philosophical view of life and unfulfilled wishes.
Hope you do well in the contest!

The imagery in this poem is vivid. The reader will be drawn in by your allusion. You could have many sweaters hanging with many pockets filled with stars and even Cargo pants filling cupboards, filled with stars in many more pockets AND still there will be stars in the sky. What a fun concept. I'm voting for this one.

This makes me think of all the wishes I have made over the years and recall how many of them have come true. The picture you have with this piece is beautiful.

This bit of writing is beautiful. It has a nostalgic and sureal quality as we at first say, "Yay" for wishing and hoping, then take us to a cinisism as hopes are felt to have been wasted. A very deep and thought provoking write.

Thank you, thank you so very much for completely understanding my offering, equestik - that means just as much as those lovely stars! Yes, we are brought to a bit of cynicism in our later years, aren't we? But we can try and hold on to a bit of that childhood wishing... if only for a warmer day tomorrow! Thank you again.

Just keep on hoping and wishing! Nice job on this Sedaka! A clever take on wish I may, wish I might.. :-) Perfect illustration to go along with. An enjoyable read. Thank you. :-)

Hello, anonymous,

Beautiful entry for the
Sedoka Poem writing prompt contest. Good syllable count and connection between lines. It flows nicely.

It's a bitter sweet poem about wishing upon a star...or many and feeling disappointed.

Good luck in the contest

I think this is a good entry for the Sedoka Poem writing prompt.
This short piece gives the two perspectives very nicely.
Well done and I wish you good luck with the contest.

How sad. Maybe your true hearts desire lay not in the stars, but here on earth. One should never give up, wishes can come true, it sometimes takes awhile. Best of luck to you in the contest.

It's not personal - just a contest. Thanks for your review, Boogie!

You meet the criteria. Your poem reflects how we all feel, wishing on stars for a better tomorrow, while we wonder if it is all just worthless. Time will tell. Until then stay safe and pray.

I like the contest entry and like the different perspectives I read between the two stanzas. The overall presentation is beautiful (italics, colors); the artwork was well chosen, representing both adult & child, each with their own thoughts of wishing upon a star.
Excellent contest entry.
