MOst children act defiant and throw tantrums when they have to eat proper nutritious food. But give them chocolates and potato chips thy'll only be too happy.I see the same traits in Tom,here.
A nice rhymed poem with a cute picture of Tom frowning.

Hi, As always what a great way to keep memories like this alive. That scrape book is full. I see your structure is solid my only suggestions is to add the word "only" to your last line since it may give it more punch.katz

Oh, don't you just love the new posts styles. Loved Sawyer all surrounded by the red background colors. It suits his complexion. Smile. Loved the rhyming of this poem and loved the story his little temper.

Frankly, I'm sick of the down times and slow responses that come every time there are upgrades like this. I was perfectly happy with the old format and hate all that I'm paying in inconvenience for getting a new one. Rant over. LOL Thanks so much, Amahra :-) Brooke

A picture speaks a thousand words but a finely crafted poem comes in, a close second. Your child's budding awareness, call it willfulness. It signals a growing maturity, a flexing of his intellectual muscles, maybe, and it is going to get worse. It seems children grow and blossom in spite of their parents. Best wishes.. -Ekim777

Oh, this made me laugh aloud. Two year olds do have a way of winning the argument. I love the cadence of your rhythm; it moves the story forward at such a nice pace. Excellent rhyme and meter. (Of course)

Love the lines

but never thought he'd think himself
the ruler of all things.

The whole world can revolve around a two year old. The picture is just precious. That pout is adorable.
Thanks for sharing. You made my night.

I love this one.

He'd entertain suggestions
(if he was in the mood),
but to an order his response
was always loud and rude.

I don't think adults even care for orders.

The moral of this story --
no matter what you do,
you'll never win a fight of wills
if your opponent's two.

So many opportunities to practice patience, for mom and dad.

Brooke, your words are true for "terrible twos". The expression says it all and the will is formidable. The meter and the b-b and so forth rhyme carries the write nicely. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

What a delight, and there is not a more perfect picture for your poem! Two is such a delightful age......I miss it! Mine are eleven to twenty!

Already at the age of two, Alexander the Great. LOL. Those tantrums are to show who's the boss? You tell a cute, but a realistic story that parents can relate to. The moral of the story, in an argument there's rarely a satisfied winner. Really well written. Les
