This was a very entertaining and well written poem. I've always heard that goats were trouble. Good luck with the goats and the contest.

great story inside the poem.
Leaving me to wonder.
What on earth were you thinking.
Buying goats to put your roses asunder.
I love this story and I've loved most of the entries that I have read from this contest. You are so humorous about your plight, that I can't help but think that a solution must be closer than anyone could ponder.
good luck in the contest

This poem is ingenious, and I so enjoy the rhymes. Funny but not funny - I do agree!
a pair of horned Houdinis, you might even call them genies -ha ha!
munching on the things they didn't ought (didn't exactly do as they were taught, huh?)
like a magnet to their noses... the most expensive roses: whoops!
You mention a perimeter with landlines, but we know that's not enough to keep them from eating what's on the other side of the fence...
The author notes are much appreciated and give me a glimpse into where you got some of this fantastic creativity.

An absolutely adorable poem with great rhyme and rhythm and cadence. Very smooth, just rolls off the tongue. As an owner of 3 cats, currently, I can at least relate to how wily and mischievous our four-legged fiends... er, friends can be. Also, the historical insights really gave this extra 'oomph' - dunno how you quantify that, but hey! I loved it!

Thanks so much for the review and the six stars.
We have cats, dogs and chickens as well as goats - all have their own little quirks.
