I enjoyed your poem. The analogies hold much wisdom about couplehood. We all want happiness and joy, but there are so many other emotions and responsibilities that come along with the relationship. Excellent work.
Forgive me for running out of 6's. Peace, love and much happiness always.

oh what fun! thank you so much sunni! I noticed you'd put it on one of your poems, too, and thought it looked so sweet. I'm a total computer idiot of course ... but I'll see if I can get it to work (not your signature flowers of course ... but something else!) So sweet of you to share that info. :) Sharyn

Sorry for the late reply. I ran to the market. Did groceries this weekend, but forgot breakfast. Anyways, once you get the hang of C&P'ing graphics it becomes addictive.
Highlight HTML Code... to cut press Ctrl and C at the same time. To paste press Ctrl and V at the same time. Waah-Lahh!
Have fun!

Indeed, a very dark write - I enjoy learning of all the different sides of you, Sharyn! You are incredibly multi-faceted and your writing reflects that. This poem is kinda scary - very cool - and I have no doubt you are the mutant butterfly!

grrrrrrrrrrrrr! :) thanks Patti - yes, there are many sides of me - for many years I skittered along the surface of life, till I learned that I HAD to go deep, or not survive. Very character-building, though not always pleasant!

Absolutely brilliant! I hope your message of strength and vitality is delivered to all out there who have had the light sucked out of their lives!
I have news for you.

Thank you so much jj - and a special thank you for the magic '6'! You have the picture exactly - it's often a case of self-preservation, yes? Best wishes, Sharyn

I remember my sister going to a movie called "The Collector." That's what this makes me think of. Of course, I have an ex kind of like that (good reason to keep my distance) and I've got to say that this write gets me "creeped out" maybe because it's so true. "you feed off the light of others
because you, yourself, have none." Isn't that the truth.

Hi Sharyn,
This poem is delicious in its darkness. I often write dark poetry which for some strange reason comes easier to me than a happy poem. I hope this isn't true of your situation but if so I m glad you got away from such a controlling man. You have used superb words to express yourself and your phrasing is exceptional. Well done....blessings, chey

thx Chey - yes, I probably need to write "dark" more often, because it's something I tend to avoid ... grrrrrrrrrr!

Top quality writing. I so love the ending. A passionate, multi layered piece of poetry that instantly grabs the reader and draws them into your world.

This is certainly a thought-provoking poem, full of strong metaphors and some great relationship advice as well. I like how you wrote this, almost
like a little story. Very enjoyable read. I learned something, which is always gratifying.

Thanks Jenny - there does come a time occasionally where one draws a line of defense around oneself and says "cross at your own peril"! thank you so much for reading & reviewing! Best wishes, Sharyn

In the box, plotting... He's in for a shock when he opens it again. Very nice example of how women plot with patience for that right moment.

Great title and pic for yur poem. I love the use of metaphores, and other poetic devices. So sorry, if you went through this, that yu were with some one like that. Unfortunately there are a lot of people that love to "feed" off people. Yu need to enter this into a contest. I look forward to reading more of your work

Thank you so much for reading, reviewing, and for your awarding of the special '6' cc - I did, indeed, go through this - but it's not necessarily a negative in the long run, because it forced me to look at how I tied my self worth to another. An interesting lesson! Thank you so much for keying into this one! Best wishes, Sharyn
