Hell Brooke, This is an interesting poem. Of course it reminds me of that time back in the early 60's when Chicago got snowed in. I remember how even the cars were buried in snow. I hate being cold but like you the veiw of a snow covered ground is quite beautiful. Peace always. Sandina

Sandina - I hate being snowed in, especially as my volunteer job tomorrow will not happen - but this is me trying to invoke the power of positive thinking! :-) Thanks, Brooke

Well Brooke positive thinking does help. What else is there but despair. Positive thinking sounds and feels much better. I don't like the sense of being trapped so being snowed in would generate some discomfort in me. One year back in '74 when I was pregnant with my 3rd child I took my two little children for a drive in the middle of winter. I found an out of the way dirt road so I took it - just to see where it lead. It lead me right into a mudhole not far from a river. I had to find a friendly farmer to come and help drag my car out of the snowy mudhole. I don't take dirt roads in winter anymore. Peace and love always. Sandina

Brooke - That's right. You had that snow storm yesterday and today. It was 80 here yesterday and hit 55 today. Beautiful visual descriptive you use to paint God's Gallery in your poem. Enjoyed it. Charlie

Charlie - thank you for letting me know about your 80 degree weather because I'm such a giving person that I love knowing you're basking in the sunshine whilst I shiver in the snow! LOL This poem is my mind over matter therapy. It didn't really work. I still hate the damned stuff. :-) Thank you for the lovely review and the weather taunts, Brooke :-)

And, you created a gorgeous reproduction of nature's scene with your imagery. I very much enjoyed "shadows painted on the snow"--so, ephemeral and yet so vivid. The wonderful rhyming quatrains and the meter were just the frosting on this snow cake!

What a beautiful minute poem. Your words are beautiful, painting a wonderful picture. I must admit to being jealous of you - oh to be snowed in! I suppose the old saying is true - the grass is always greener...
I love it.
Hugs

You are not kidding the grass is always greener because I would so trade for someone living where it is not snowing! LOL I wrote this poem to convince myself it is actually a good thing, but I didn't convince myself! :-D Thank you for a great review, Brooke :-)

"Admission Free" is a beautifully written minute poem. The rhythm and rhyming is as perfect as the three quatrains. Poem reads very smooth from beginning to end. Well done!

This winter poem was indeed well done with its art imagery. I think that the form you chose was done well and the last stanza was an excellent finale.

I am so ready for spring but this poem reminds me of how all season's are god's gift and beautiful in they're own right. You have made winter sound serene, quiet and graceful. A look beyond fridid cold and wariness for winters end. Great imagery an appreciative message, thank you for sharing. NCW

I am totally ready for spring, too, but wrote a complaining poem about the snow a couple days ago so decided I would try the positive approach! LOL Thanks, Brooke

Thanks for this free admission to a scene I can't get to here in sunny Singapore.
Trees' shadows painted on the snow,
pure white below --
These after a snowfall scenes especially those where the snow is icy or where a pond has frozen over, they are really like a black and white photo. The shadows against the white snow or ice. They are serene to look at.
a sculpture cast
from wind's cold blast.
A snow covered tree , bushes, in fact anything take on a new form. The icicles add character to the sculptures.
Each sparkling crystal in each drift,
a priceless gift --
I believe you're speaking of snowflakes here. They are beautiful and intricate. When you look at them land on a window pane, then you realise how perfectly shaped they are.

This is a very beautiful poem. The world outside (I'm on Long Island so over by me it's about a foot and a half, I think) truly is G-d's gallery. Your imagery is fantastic.

My mother's relatives all live in and around Hicksville - I used to visit Long Island all the time as a child - you have a foot more than we do!!! Thanks so much for this most generous and warm review, Brooke :-)
