The meter and pace of this poem is very well written. I liked your message that faith will carry you through when things look bleak and when you feel haunted by 'ghosts' of the past.
The contest was calling for a specific ghost though, rather than ghosts in general.

Very nice. The poem, as I read, it reminded me of Longfellow's "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." The idea of despair and gloom pervading our life and in the last stanza freedom because of Him whose right it is to reign. I like it and Longfellow is pretty good company.

this is an excellent write, royowen, you are so right, the past cannot be rebuilt by us because Christ has erased our past and the Holy Spirit resides there now. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.
