This is so good. So true and the picture can tell the story to. I'm still chuckling. I love the last verse. You wait for it and still when you read it you laugh again.

Solid abcb rhyming scheme in quatrains.
Smooth flow of words and thoughts from one line to the other.
Some alliteration--thought he'd think, what he was,
No threats with a two year old. Coaxing might work better

When they are two, you learn very quickly to pick your battles. This was a fun and enjoyable tale about the little tyrant. The picture is hysterical to say the least. I liked the rhythm and the imagery, especially the flinging food at the cat. It's always the innocents that suffer. Great stuff.

My daughter and I were talking about picking battles just today during our daily phone call :-) Thanks so much, Gretchen. Brooke

Love this! This is hilarious and I can totally recall my two year old and the battles that the parent could not win. For me it was not a food battle but mostly the sleep battle.

Your rhyming quatrains (my favorite) were fun to read and I always enjoy the stories you tell in perfect rhyme. Boy, the change in picture size really made a "big" difference. Take care. Bill

Thanks so much, Bill - yes, there are many photos of Sawyer that will show way more detail in this larger format. Brooke

Haha, that was a light and fun poem that I can definitely relate to because I've tried my hand at being stern with a 2 year old on many occasions :p. I really like the flow of this poem, sounds like it could definitely be an old nursery rhyme that has been quoted for years. Nice job!

You brought a big smile to my face with this one, Brooke! It lilts along beautifully, and the finale is very amusing (and that photo - now THAT's a pout!)

You do such a great job writing poems that match your photos. I can see the "moniker of kings" in his eyes and whole facial expression. I like how the poem leads you to expect one outcome, and then has the humorous twist at the end with the child winning out. --Alanna

This was truly funny and definitely follows little children's queer actions. The picture you use fits perfectly with your work and I like your moral. Very good work.
