Oh, God bless YOU! When I wrote this, I cried the whole time so I really appreciate your tears. I hope it helped you to cry. My heart was so full of gratitude when I wrote this. I'd heard of so many that didn't get along with their moms and that was just so foreign to me. She was my best friend. May God bless you for this sweet review!

Suzie Q,
your poem in letter form is poignant and beautifully written. Gorgeous art work and color presentation. Cool title 'Down Here I Called Her Mama.' Excellent rhyme and meter, vivid imagery, great narrative and very descriptive writing. The stanzas that stood out for me:
For a moment, Dear Lord, I'd like to refrain
From the tears I've shed at Your knee
And send up a heartfelt "Thank You"
For the angel You sent down to me
Angelic she was, in every way
This treasure You sent from above
Down here I called her Mama
And she answered me with love
She was my light when surrounded by darkness
For in her wisdom she taught me to see
There was nothing to fear, for You're always near
And it was that lesson that set me free
For I'm sure deep down she always knew
Someday You'd be calling her home
And I'd have to retrieve, what she taught me to believe
Or I'd never make it on my own
Wow, what a moving tribute to your mother. You poem is fabulous. Stunning write. I look forward to reading more of you poetry. Have a blessed Sunday.
Melissa.

God bless YOU, Melissa! Thank you for your sweet comments. I'm always nervous about posting poems I wrote about my Mom cause I know I make her sound too good to be true. But trust me, she was. I can't thank you enough for your kind reviews!

Fantastic!
I hope we all learn how to love this way.
I guess we try.
Absolutely lovely tribute and not a single reader, a mother or a child should ever dismiss this work as anything less than spectacular.
Great love story.....and worthy of every investment in you, especially.

Wow! This is one of the few times in my life that I am speechless! If we could rate replies, I'd give YOU six stars! I don't think I've received a reply that touched me as much as this. God bless you.

A very moving and wonderful tribute to your Mama. The heartfelt love for her and your thanks for her wisdom comes through loud and clear. The rhyme and flow of this is wonderful. I love your POV, talking to the One and carrying that through to the very end. Nicely done and thank you for sharing. JP

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the rhyme and flow. I always worry about that. I appreciate you pointing out who the letter was to. You know, I had seen a letter written to someone's Mom at a craft show after my Mom had died, and remember being so upset that I hadn't thought of this till after she passed. Then I thought" Well, I can still write one to God" So I did. I'm so glad you liked this. God bless you

My pleasure, it was wonderful. :) Cheers, JP

This is so wonderfully sad it brought a tear to my eye
it is very hard to move on when our loved ones die
Faith is a great way to stay on a level and not always cry.
I myself write about death as it always seems to help.
I find it angers me when I lose my trusted souls .
Nicely written with lots of sentiment
keep up the good work
may you find peace xxx

What a lovely review! Thanks for the poem in return. It was well said. Yea, I think that's why I always write a poem after I lose someone. It's like therapy for me. I still haven't written the one about my Dad yet. I got the title but haven't started it. Oh yea, I'm pleased to tell you that as soon as I let go of my Mama's hand, God took hold of it and He hasn't let go since! So I've got peace coming out of every pore:)God bless you!

Truly inspiring and moving. I am so sorry for your loss and this poem depicts what we all must feel about our mothers who gave us life. I dread the day I will have to lose her but this poem gives me comfort in that dread. God Bless and good luck in the contest.

Oh, God bless you! I'm so glad you liked it. She was such a blessing to me.I will tell you something. As ironic as it may seem, the night before I lost her, I finally quit fighting for her to live and put her in God's hands. Do you know I had the most peace after that than I have ever had in my life! So don't worry about when your Mom's time comes. I know He'll do the same for you. He'll give you everything you need to deal with it. Hey, I'm living proof:) God bless you
