What a wonderful paean to your child. In the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, at one of the services, there is a line "And the children, because God especially loves them"--that line (I believe it's in "Lessons and Carols") tugs at my heartstrings every time. This is a beautiful poem and the rhyme works just right. The condensation of emotion is perfect. Good use of alliteration and wonderful juxtaposition of picture and poem.

A beautiful love poem for a beautiful boy. That's the best thing about love, it lives on in memories that continue to give us joy, year after year. I liked the idea that he was God's gift to you, because I believe children are just that, a gift to be cherished and loved and appreciated... no matter how long we have them. You were and are blessed.

I was feeling real low because another tragedy knocked at our family's door the other day and then this contest popped up. Maybe it was Micheal's way to helping his Mom. I am overwhelmed this morning by all the responses and the stars are twinkling everywhere. I truly have found a lot of friends on FanStory. Thanks you very very much.
Smiling through tears of joy, Carol

Just knowing that so many people appreciated his wonderful smile and the love we shared has brightened my day beyond belief. Your stars will be added to that marvelous twinkle in his eyes and I will think of you all the time.
Thank you very very much. Smiles, CArol

Begin Again, you get 6 stars for such a beautiful, heartfelt poem and more stars than I can count for your biography and amazing resiliency. You've been through more than most of us will experience in a lifetime! Michael has such a sweet, angelic face. Thank you, thank you! The broken heart underneath Michael's face sure brought out the kleenex box over here.

This is a lovely poem written by a mother who truly loved her son and wanted to share that love. There can be no errors or criticism of such a gesture.

Begin Again:
Thanks for sharing your gift of Michael's love and yours for him in this short, touching and beyond extremely sad poem.
A child taken away too soon. I'm very sorry for that.
Appreciate you sharing your son's image so we can know Michael's wonderful smile and face.
He lives in your heart and memory forever and now Michael is a little bit part of our hearts too.

The face of a beautiful, happy and much loved little boy...how sad that you only had him with you for four short years, yet some love is impacted tightly within a time frame as if it is too great a love to stay longer.
A beautiful, and simply sweet dedication my dear friend.

Hi Carol,
I read this poem. It's one of those that I don't know much of what to say, cause it's sad. He's really cute.

He lived a full life in those four years. I probably could write quite a book. But he continues to send his love everyday and I am blessed for that. The response to his smile has been unbelievable, but why should I be surprised. He did the same thing when he was alive. Smiles, CArol

Your son was very special and the poem shows that to the reader! Children are gifts from God that we often forget to thank Him for. Wonderful dedication! V.A.
