A very enjoyable poem about home. So many memories, that stay with us even when we find ourselves alone. I like the part:
"until the grandchildren arrive
and put dirty shoes on your furniture
jelly handprints on the walls
but have the best hugs for grandma"

It' so beautiful. Warmed my heart as I read the piece. And living outside my own country for almost two decades, I miss home everyday. It made me a little sad but made me smile too with how true every word you wrote. Home is where the heart is. I love it. Very well written. Thank you so much. (Calling my mom right now). :)

Very nice poem! I really enjoyed it, and also can relate to the topic.
I think you may have forgotten to delete a line... You said, regarding the limo, both the sentence about the prom and the wedding. I think you only meant to leave in one of those. But if not, I don't understand it. Ha!
In any event, I like your poem. I especially like the way you ended it. Hugs.

No mistake. After the daughter goes to the prom, then comes a wedding. How old are you?? Thank for reading. LOL Linda

I especially liked your first and last stanzas. "Home is where you find your umbrella..." and "When there is no place else to go..." We are faced with a lot of storms lately; riots, political nonsense. I need to get my umbrella to protect me from the S**t storms.

"Home is where your life unfolds." I love that, even though it's it's obvious, I never thought of it in quite that way! I really enjoyed this story of a life in the context of home, nicely done. Thank you for sharing.

So glad I have a 6 for this masterpiece that made he cry--and smile. I am
moved by your specific descriptions, how they take the reader full circle
in that place called home.

LivelyLinda:
Yes, home is all the things you mentioned above - and more.
And when all is said and done, and we are at the end of our
road, the one thing left to do is to go home. Thanks for
sharing.

This is a very well written poem about home is one's life time shelter place where one goes from young age to retirement age.
I like the following sentence: "home is the place that feels so empty . . . until the grandchildren arrive, and put dirty shoes on your furniture jelly handprints on the walls but have the best hugs for grandma."
I miss seeing my grandchildren in person...
Happy writing.

This is an interesting free verse poem, one in which you conjure up many different images of the coziness that we associate with our homes. The picture is a great touch.
