The Swap Quatrain has a certain charm about it...made moreso by this particular theme! The thought of the "seeds of life" being handed down generation by generation is especially lovely. Your rhymes are so perfect one doesn't even think of them until the second read! (And there MUST be a second read!) Charming--Karenina

I'm a keen gardener myself so your beautiful poem so resonated with me. The thing is what you sow could grow for generation, leaving behind a legacy of the person who once were. Ulla:)))

Hi Diane! This is a very well constructed Swap Quatrain... and so long! Your lines are very well thought out so as not to feel forced in the fourth line of the stanza and everything rhymes perfectly. :) Great job!!! :)

This is a beautiful poem Diane in lovely aabb rhyme. My husbands favorite flower is the hollyhock. I planted them at our last home but when we moved last August, they didn't survive the move. Now, with the virus going on, I can't get out buy some. May have to check out some 'order houses' for them.
You have described them beautifully and now I really miss seeing them. They are an exceptional flower.
Blessings

Hello Janet!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
So pleased that my words resonated with you.
Perhaps, you could order some seeds and a seed starter kit. Plant them inside, and when there is no danger of frost, plant the "babies" outside! Bet that would work!
Let me know!
Thank you again!

That?s a great idea Diane. I will check on that. Would be great to see them coming up and I have the perfect place for them.

Hope you find the ones you like!
Mine are singles; much preferred over doubles!

I love hollyhocks too! They will be coming up this year. They are actually biennials. But I have noticed that some will come up each year because of the falling of first and second years planting. I have some pretty colours.
Your poem was very good and I do like this form very much.

I really enjoyed reading this precious poem. The memories are evident and while they are personal, the words flow extremely well. The hollyhock video you shared is awesome too!

Enchanting words and presentation, dear poet. Your words transported me to the garden you envision. The depth of your imagery is limitless. Great details, like this one "I thought of her on this bright summer day."

Hello Diane, this is a lovely biographical poem in good aabb rhyme. Beautiful descriptive writing about the hollyhocks. When first reading I was on the verge, in stanza one of mentioning the repetition of 'tilling rich soil' but then I saw you maintained it throughout with the phrase repetition in lines one and four in every stanza, and how well it works. A really lovely poem, with a gorgeous picture - lovely read. Warm regards - stay safe. Love Dorothy xx

Beautifully written and so very well said. I like learning about the hollyhocks and you paint a very dramatic and captivating picture of them by the shed for us. You invite us into the garden and detail it so realistically that holds the readers attention. This is vibrant and a pleasure to read. A great tribute to your loved one. Love the picture. Wonderful rhymes too, and I like the image and presentation of the pink hollyhocks. Very well thought out and detailed. It should be appreciated by gardeners alike. I'd never heard of the flower before so it's something new too.
