Aww, Dinky, what a good boy you have been. I'm so sorry to hear about what will be such a loss to you both. Every dog has that special relationship with various family members. It's a difficult grieving process. Lovely and humorous poem about your dear dog.

Thank you. My wife kept telling Dinky you have to be immortal. We had to put our cat of 15 years, Moe, down last week. Life is certainly different without them. I appreciate you reading and reviewing my work.

I love Dinky. He is definitely a "good boy". It is so sad to lose a pet. They become like family and then they're gone. However, their life span almost makes the parting certain. Still it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I really enjoyed the poem!

Earl, an excellent rhyming poem and hilarious. You caught the interaction between man and his best friend spot on. Who would endure the elements of the weather, except for a dog lover.

It's always sad to say farewell to a much loved pet, as Dinky surely has been, despite keeping you shivering in the snow while he did what he had to do!

Hi Earl,

OMG! My heart is breaking for you and your sweet baby. I will be holding him, you, and your family in healing, supportive thoughts and prayers.

I have just written a 7-part series of very brief essays on healing grieving hearts. I am not soliciting reviews, only sharing about my professional experience as a bereavement psychotherapist at a hospice.

Be well, my friend.

Jan

Your notes certainly touched me. We all have to go through the pain of seeing our pets suffer, of having them put to sleep.

However, this was a cute little poem and if Dinky knew how to read, I'm sure he'd give you a huge smile. And, yes, I do believe our pets have souls and are still with us in spirit form as they play in heaven. Hugs, Lou

This is a reminder to every present or former dog owner about how bad it is to wait for a dog to go to the bathroom when it is cold and snowy outside. Sorry for you loss.

Good luck and keep writing

It is short, but to the point and less is more. I also like the way you framed it by starting with "C'mon Dinky let's go" and ending with "C'mon Dinky let's go. Dog's are truly man's best friends. They're full of love!

It is sad to lose our pets Earl, but if Dinky was immortal, who would look after her when you died, you must say that to your wife, have a great day, love Dolly x

This is such a sweet poem for your dog. They really are our family, and when it is their time to leave us it sure is difficult to say good bye. I'm very sorry to hear that Dinky is not well. He gave you all his love, and I'm sure he had a terrific life with you.

You have a heartbreaking theme for this rhyming contest, and you have fine yet simple rhymes. It should be a well-received contest entry.

Joy xx
