I love how you have used the dandelion as the topic of this counting poem. The presentation is gorgeous. That final stanza brought a tear to my eye. Brooke should love it!

Thanks very much, Debi. I'm pleased you think so highly of this poem. I worked on it for nearly three days with very little sleep to try to get it as close to Brooke's amazing style as I could. I know how much she cherishes her dandelions. While I realize I'm nowhere close, my wish is that it will warm Brooke's heart, and extend to her the powers of healing through friendship, love and our collective prayers for a full recovery.
Thanks very much for your exemplary comments and exceptional six star rating. All are greatly appreciated, as always.

Hi, Dean--This is a lovely testament to one of my favorite flowes: dandelion! This did remind me of one of Brooke's "counting" poems. This poem is so sweet and gentle ( I had to double check to make sure that you were the poet--AND kept waiting for one of those seeds to do something dastardly). It was nice to see a different side of your talent! Caroline

Hah-ha, I don't think Brooke would have liked me too much if I scared her, Caroline, especially now, lol. She gets on me from time to time about the morbid topics I sometimes (most times) choose. "Why can't you write "nice" things? she once asked. So, in her honor, I did the best for her that I could. I couldn't even come close to matching Brooke's masterful rhyme and meter, however. No matter how hard I tried.
Thanks again for your fantastic comments. ~Dean

Truly and honestly, I found myself wondering what kind of mischief a dandelion could possibly get into--knowing full well that you would find a way!! However, I did like it just the way it was! Caroline

This is a great tribute to Brooke. I guess you read her poem about dandelion seeds. I think it was the last one she posted. I just find it hard to believe that you did not reserve a terrible fate for one of these tiny, helpless seeds.

I did, Delahay, which is the reason I wrote this dedication to her using dandelion seed. I know she's very fond of dandelions.

Please consider adding this well penned, creative poem to Brooke's get well book. It would be a wonderful addition/chapter in her book. Just love the way this is done in 10, 9, 8,... And, love the artwork in between. How did you do that? I would like to try to do this within some of my poems. Would you help me please? Thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming. And, thanks again for helping me with Music/video additions to my poems. Your help is greatly appreciated, Deb

Hi Dean,

I have only just become aware of Brooke's illness, and don't know a great deal of the detail. Yours is a lovely tribute to her, it was no secret that she adored dandelions.

Patrick

I think that's an amazing poem, Dean, particularly as a dedication to Brooke. I have not been here long (as you know) but I've read some of her poems and you duplicate her style beautifully...as a testimony to her talent, and to your own. How in the world do you develop this incredible page with all these decorative appointments and avatars? Do you formulate this on your computer and then paste it or somehow use the system that this site has afforded us?

Thanks, Megalips. I sincerely appreciate your glowing review and six stars, my friend.
I'd be glad to teach you how to do what I do, as Gungalo, a cherished, beloved member here who passed away a little over a year ago ( I highly recommend looking up her work on the eternal flame pages, if it's still active), once took me under her wing and taught me. Just drop me a line in my inbox and I'll explain to you how to do it too, if you like.
    Thanks so much again...~Dean
