This is fabulous, and I chuckled when I read your last lines of warning - to be careful when next opening the box! I think we have met the same sort of person, and I wish I had thought of poking holes in the box!

What a great description of a relationship that the truth evolved. It takes a bit of time to reach the 'smartening up' stage. After a while refusing to be taken advantage of reaches a tipping point and its over.

It does indeed Hhp - getting to the tipping point is painful. You have wisdom by the sound of it!

Wow! The tone, mood and imagery are out of this world! You nailed it. I've seen these scenes played so many times when I worked with Social Services. Many women were caught up in the government's system as well as their spouses. They stayed in their boxes, and some simply died of asphyxiation of the soul and spirit. I like your idea of how to get out and what sweet revenge. This is one of my best reviews of the day!
Awesome job!

Wow. Sharyn, I swear I read your work and it's like I told you my life story and you put pieces of it into little masterpieces called poems. Your expression is so eloquent and profound. Simply beautiful.

Perhaps it's a common part of "growing up" for many woman my dear - finding courage to be independent and to be oneself. It's a hard journey. I'm so glad the piece speaks to you.
Blessings,
Sharyn

That kinda goes along with the whole
reawakening of modern vampire fixation,
doesn't it? How could you have know that
you invited Dracula in?
Tell ya what... PM me and I'll tell you
where to buy... hold on! No need for
that! You've probably heard of them, as
they're now a chain operation... Stake Outlet!
Their stakes are 100 percent guaranteed to
kill on first strike or triple yer money
back! :)
Good luck to you! Nathan B

That was liberating. I could feel the courage and respect you demanded with this. The words played off each other with a bold sense of pride. Nice

The message of growth and the freedom it brings is marvelous. I admire the way you can express all this in so few words. I have a hard time with free verse, but you make it look easy. Very well done, great metaphor for those to remember who really need this. Thanks for sharing.

Marvelous! This is an outstanding poem, from succinct and provocative title to strategically formatted and linguistically powerful conclusion. Terse, eloquent, and fittingly foreboding...a great read--and proof that revenge is a dish best served...poetically.

This sounds like the making of a horror movie of your own. The butterfly that turns into a monster to eat the monster who trapped it. Well done.
