This a wonderful entry for this contest. It never occurred to me that someone (you) would be so creative to use the songs of birds as the soundtrack of their life. Your poem brilliantly shows the joy your father taught you with music for a lifetime. Exceptionally written. I did not have enough sixes for this contest. Thank you for entering. Terry.

I am glad I don't have an entry, no way it would win...and all the entries are outstanding, I don't know who to vote for. Terry.

Of course one set of songs are eternal, and the others will pass away, but as a songwriter, I hope I write a song that will be sung in heave, by chois of angels, and when you hear those beautiful songs as I have, they're like a million bells ringing...well done, blessings Roy

Hello, Roy!
I do love the songs of men, but there is something so special about walking out into our yard and listening to the songbirds... Songs that are pure and bring forth memories of my father and my childhood... I really couldn't tell you the names of many popular songsters with the exception of Josh Turner and Adele! :)
Thank you!

Your contest entry was enjoyable to read, Mystery Author.
The smooth flow and good end rhymes moved it along from
you first hearing/learning about the birds to today as they sing
to you. Upon hearing their sweet songs, you were reminded of
the time spent with you dad. Birds are amazing. We have very few
varieties here, but each one is special. The image was beautiful.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

I do wish that I had a six left to give you for this wonderful, smooth, flowing, and memory, making writing. It me many memories of my childhood as I was living on a farm. I would hear would hear the mockingbird singing, I would hear the cows mooing in the meadow. There were so many sounds and so much music coming from the creatures of nature. This is a lovely work and I wish you the best in the contest Patricia.

Hello, Patricia!
What a lovely and thoughtful review.
Where I live, there are no mockingbirds; how I would love to hear one someday...
I am so pleased my small offering resonated with you!
Thank you!
-
You are very welcome. The mockingbird is a very unique bird as it mimics the sound of other birds as well. There is one other bird in nature that does this to some extent, and it is called the Desert grackle. One day I said on the porch, listening to a grackle and did not real eyes. Just how many different sounds that I do make.

On my way to research the Desert Grackle! Thank you!

I love this and would give it 6 stars if I had any left. It's a terrific poem about nature's premier vocalists--birds. It's one of the joys of life you and your loving dad had in common, and when you hear the birds sing, it triggers fond memories of him.
This was so well-written with great rhyme and perfect meter. Outstanding job!

Much appreciation, Jim!
So pleased you enjoyed and my offering resonated with you!
We used to get into a bit of trouble with my mother as we would "whistle" the birds' songs...and apparently, we were often off-key!
Thank you again!

This is the most lovely poem, musical in its rhyme and flow, a soundtrack to love. How blessed you were to have had a Dad who taught you to be still and listen, to a symphony that plays on. Beautiful.

Good morning, Ginda!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
How I loved my father; truly I feel his presence when I take walks or am out and about in our yard, and hear the birds - that he so loved and taught me to love as well - sing their joyful songs... even that darn Bluejay! :)
Thank you!
