The picture is both sad and scary. But it is reality. Soldiers die for the country. They sacrifice their lives for a reason... Is it a valid reason? It is up to you to decide. Is it worth the survived family suffering the pain?
The ending paragraph is well said; "Yet cries still mutter in the trees,
and fades not on the gentle breeze..."
Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful tribute to those fallen. They stood, they marched, they held the line until their time. Innocent but determined they faced the inevitable knowing whose hand therein they stood. Well, written my friend, it should be in granite.

I can't say I love the poem. I can say I agree with every single word and line. The picture is a great one to go with the poem. The people making the decision to go to war, then and now, should have done the fighting and dying, not our young, Well done!

Veteran's Day is tomorrow here in the USA. It is celebrated in remembrance of all who have/are serving to protect the nation. Too many people exhibit little appreciation for the difficult job that veterans do. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute, Roy.

A beautifully written tribute to the young men who have lost their lives in such a tragic way. I feel you hit the heart of the matter by focusing on the trounced lives lost.
Thank you for your inspired words.
Take care,
Rhonda

Appreciate your poem about the tragic loss of lives because of wars. It's usually due to ideological wars between countries such as getting involved with the Vietnam War to keep the Soviet powers in check. But I am forever grateful for those who served in Korea to protect what became South Korea free from the horrible totalitarian government of North Korea.
