Hello Yvette. The picture you use with the poem is striking. I'm not always successful, but I try to draw meaning from everything I read. I think it means that the wings of forgiveness can releases from the burden of carrying around guilt or anger.

Yes! You're there, Z! :) Forgiveness is one of those two-edged swords that cuts the bonds of both parties... Think the world could use a whole lot more of it rather than the 'live in vengeance' mode of social media... sigh. Have a Terrific Tuesday!! ;) ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette. This the ONLY social media I see. My wife, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters are on social media. They are not allowed to mention my name there. My granddaughter's think that's funny.
    You have a great day.

Okay, so you realize that's another 'nutty' thing you and I have in common? I do NA-DA when it comes to social media... but, oh my husband and the boys? They are so 'into' it! :)

You don't want to agree with me on much. I'm getting 1 star and 2 star ratings along with PMs telling me that won't read my stuff any more.

Thanks for the good wishes and you have a good Tuesday too. (*_*). Z

Gonna sound ignorant here, but what's a PM? Go ahead, laugh, and then chalk it up to my being a blonde... but then tell me... :) :) :)

That's just what I call one of those private messages. I saw somebody else called them that so I do too.
That's where I learned I was culturally insensitive and had no writing skill.:))))). It does give me a chuckle.

A very well-written fifteen syllable poem about forgiveness that doesn't give us a safe shelter to hide but makes us strong to face our challenges.

Yvette,
This is for sure an exceptional post. (I don't have any more 6s :])
So very profound. Indeed forgiveness of others is a gift and but also forgiveness of ourselves can give us great strength.
Thank you so much for sharing this poem. Not sure I would have entered this contest had I known all the great entries there were going to be!!
LOL!
Blessings to you friend!
Beth

Thanx so much, Beth, and worry not about the sixer - your wonderful review is a great reassurance!! ;) :) Forgiveness is definitely a two-edged swords that cuts the bonds of both parties, yeah? Think the world could use a whole lot more of it rather than the 'live in vengeance' mode of social media... sigh. Have a Terrific Tuesday!! ;) ;) Yvette

This is a pragmatic kind of 15-syllable thought in poetic form. Forgiveness does not mean you go to great restitution amounts or grand or moderate immediate success, or even a modicum of success. It just means you get to move forward and onward. Or at least, this is what this seems to be saying. Such is life.

Wow, this is such a amazing entry for the 15 syllable poem contest. Beautiful presentation for your succinct words of wisdom. This is true for all involved. Unforgiveness is such a heavy weight. Thanks for sharing. You don't need luck in the contest, but I'll wish it anyway ;)

This is a very powerful 15 syllable poem. It isn't always easy to forgive someone. But when you do, it sets them free. Good luck with the contest. Barb

After being emotionally abused by the Catholic Church all my childhood (And that's according to Bro Mark and Bro Elias at the local monastery where I get counselling) it's always an upper to read something like this. Thank you for this reminder!

This written by someone who actually walked away from that (her) church in college (at Loyola University, if you can believe it, my lady). Forgiveness is a gift given to us without earning it and that we give to others, hopefully, in the same vein... Think the world could use a whole lot more of it rather than the 'live in vengeance' mode of social media... sigh. Have a Terrific Tuesday!! ;) ;) Yvette

Did you read my Elementary Nunsense entry? I think I wrote it before we "met."

??? No idea about your entry... with respect to school/etc, I was talking about the author of this one (aka ME)... :) :) :)

    Elementary Nunsense
I survived one year of Catholic school along with one year of hell on earth.
In third grade in 1956, after an art lesson the nun displayed all our pictures on a bulletin board. One picture was clearly much better than all the rest. The kid next to me said, ?I wonder who drew that one.?
    I replied, ?I did.?
The nun overheard me, walked over and ripped my picture off, tore it to shreds and threw it in the waste basket.
She glared at me and said, ?This is what you get for bragging. Bragging is a sin.?
Bless me Father, for I have sinned.
At the end of the year it was time to make May Altars. These were shoe boxes turned on their side in which we placed a statue of the Virgin Mary. We were free to decorate them any way we wished, then required to kneel down and pray to them every morning for the whole month. If we didn?t, it was a sin. Some days I forgot.
Bless me Father, for I have sinned.
Being on the creative side, when I made my May Altar, I twirled some tissue paper and came up with some unique flowers that I taped around the edge of my box. The nun complimented me on how pretty they were and asked where I learned how to make them. Here?s where some of the hell came in.
If I tell the truth, she?ll chastise me for bragging and throw my May Altar into the waste basket. If I lie, well, isn?t it a pretty big sin to lie to a nun?
Bless me Father, for I will have sinned.
I didn?t want to be humiliated in front of my classmates again. And also, because I?d spent so much time on that shoebox, I wanted to recycle it for my June Altar in which we placed a picture or sculpture of the Sacred Heart, an image of Jesus?s heart being pierced with a crown of thorns and dripping with blood, which we were also required to pray to every morning.
So, I chose to lie. I told the nun I saw the directions in a magazine.
    I sinned. She smiled.
But now, I?m gonna? sin again, dammit.
I swear before God and everybody I designed those flowers myself.
Bless me Father, for I have sinned.
    Do I feel any remorse?
    None
