Oh, this is so sad and moving. It's ultra-concise, but as powerful as it would be if it were ten times this length. Alcoholism is one of those thieves that people unwittingly let in.

Thank you for the excellent review and insightful comments, dear Janice. My dad was brought up in wealth with indulging parents. He was into the alcohol early on and was a teenage alcoholic. My mom married him during WW 2 thinking he was nothing more than a social drinker. A hard road. Thankfully, I know God as my Heavenly Father and Jesus as Lord. My life is much different than my parents. Jackson and I don?t drink at all.

Oh, Sally, how well you expressed this. And my heart aches for you. My first husband walked out for a woman who "understood him" when our son was a year old. He approached me about my second husband adopting his son, but the "other woman" stepped in to discourage it. People have told me that this was better than his feeling abandoned as you do. Prayers. I know it continues to hurt.

How very sad! And unfortunately based on real life. There are so many people out there who choose a substance over their children...
This is very well written and the artwork is perfect.
Thanks for sharing.

A powerful little poem and one unfortunately many young children get to experience in the modern era. Divorce rates are through the roof and children are now being raised in split families. It is very sad!
Good luck!

A very well-written short poem about a dad who just decided one day he needs to leave and never return. We all may feel like that from time to time but we will not always follow through with that.

Speaking of trauma, oh, my, yes. I feel so sad for that little girl. Terrified both that he won't come back - and probably also terrified that he will. Thank you.
