I like you very much as a poet. You create a mood that engulfs us in your repertory of ideas emerging in the reasons why or in this case should I say whom. Plenty of metaphor, allegory, alliteration, enjambment. Your Halibuns were also excellent.

This could just as easily become a haibun, but it would be a default style, not necessary, but allowing for more latitude with meter, I mention this only to tell you the story is told and few poets move beyond emotion. You did both--very clever.

I don't drink coffee, but I could smell it, hear the "doves" and see and almost taste the sweet "strawberries"! I admired your reflections about cravings and the alliteration of "s's" that intensify the message. Cheers- Joan

This poem has a wonderful, light flow that draws the reader further and further along the path of the write's morning. It's very sensual drawing in sight, sound, touch. The rhythm/pacing is its strength.

This interesting free verse on the subject of cravings works like a brief video of the morning's routine. It visits all the possible cravings, from the caffeine fix, via the caress of those essential oils, even a hint of sex until eventually, the business of passing from sleep to wakefulness completed, all these are subordinated to the fulfilled life as off to work you go.
A few more attempts at enjambment I believe would have improved the flow and enhance the surreal feeling of that move from sleep to wakefulness. As we approach the end each line becomes a separate statement in itself and only in the last six short lines does the flow get under way. This is purely a subjective feeling however.

Sometimes, all you need to get through the day is you.
Nobody is going to take better care of you than you are yourself. If you don't believe me, go to a nursing home and peek in on all of the abandoned parents there who are residents. Those whose kids don't want the hassle or responsibilities of taking care of them.
You'll see.

Victoria, my sweet friend. Just under tge weather this weekend. Tough week last week. Job performance assessments plus late nights building my biz. Though exciting.
Spent most of weekend not feeling exceptional, but this morning much better.
October 31st. The big day. Not looking forward to it but looking forward to it. Want to be out of pain and running again. He assured me I would be good as new. Should have done it a long time ago. Top orthopedic surgeon in Texas. Dr. Stocks. Not that you wanted to know all that. I am going to write of my journey. Kind of scarey.
I apologize. I promise I will be in touch. Tonight!

What a positive poem about a person who loves her lifr and living. She seems to even like waking up in the morning. The stanza about the coffe giving her strength to finally wake up seems to be true or many people and it is good personification.
It is a very healthy and happy person who can crave only her life as it is now.
