My sentiments exactly, how can America accuse others of commitng acts of atrocity, when they are the worst of all, when abusing human rights

I get it yet to place all Republicans or Democrats in one basket as your poem states isn't fair nor realistic in my view. I believe we must get past such titles and classifications to fill our world with love and hope once again.
It is not a love affair with a gun. It is the fact that there is an increasing need to protect oneself and those they love. It is preservation for the worst as waiting that it doesn't arrive. Those who hold office will have the CIA backing them the rest of their life so what does it matter to them? I don't have that.
Do you want the free world to not have tools to fight against those arriving here that do? One may as well lay down and give up.
You seem to be angry and need true answers to questions you have or redirected in what you thought was the truth but wasn't. I am here.
You are a great author. You also portray questions and or statements I believe most readers struggle with. Although I do not agree because I discovered the truth on my own, I will say you are a valuable artist.

Well said, Mike. Luckily, we are watching this political black comedy from across the big puddle. However, opinions about this man who calls himself American, are very strong, and we're counting on Yankee commonsense to put him well and truly out of the picture. Good writing.

Thank you much for the 6 rating, and rest assured, my 32 votes will NOT be for him! What? I'm sorry, I've just been informed I only get one vote--damn it--you'd better just forget what I said, all except, 'thank you!'

LOL! Happy Christmas.

Thank you, and a Merry Christmas to you also, your family, your neighbors, the beer vendor that lives a block over, and basically anyone within a 2-mile radius!

The rest of the world is probably thinking
what most Americans think
We have a dis-functional government
Trump has actually done two very good things
1. pointed out the politicians are owned
by special groups with money
Their primary interest is themselves
and they never answer questions,
just make speeches.
2. If he is the nominee, it should
guarantee a democratic win, as
it will split the right wing and that is
a good thing. I don't think that is
his goal, but if is what happens
he will have done us all an unintended favor
A well written poem, i agree with it all

I completely agree, and hope he does run as an independent, as I'm a proud Democrat, however, the thought of having to listen to this grating, obnoxious dude all the way through election day, turns my gullet!

Ah yes....the rest of the world. Seems like many Americans have forgotten about its existence. Oh well, what they think about us doens't really matter anyway does it? After all, aren't we superior?
The political circus has come to town. Send in the clowns. It is fastly becoming the greatest show on earth. But, I fear the spotlight is exposing our dirty underware. People around the world are laughing at the daily performances of our political parties. And, not because it is funny. It is a laughter based upon discust and ridicule. It was only a matter of time before our national ignorance became the laughing stock of the world......deservedly so.
It is a much bigger problem than most are willing to consider. And, as time lengthens, we are paying the price of complacency. There are some who want to see our nation destroyed and our people murdered. Not the kind of "special" we believed ourself to be. Imagine that!
Time doesn't give a shit about any of it. It will be doing its thing long after the human race becomes extinct. But, between now and then, we have to adapt to the many changing ways of mankind. I am sure this election cycle has more fodder for thought and expression yet to come. However, in this world circus, there are still many juggled balls left in the air. How long will we be able to keep our part of the show running. So far, the reviews are less than favorable. If we all remain in the audience we will get what we deserve.
The observations you present in this poem provides thoughtful commentary on this topic. Perhaps more Americans would be well served to perceive what is going on in our country through the eyes of the world population. Many would not be too pleased what they would see.
We will survive this next administration change. At least most of us will. Perhaps those that don't will be the lucky ones. Until then, we will all have to hunker down in our own little fox holes while the political fire-fight continues and tell each other stories about how much we dislike the Generals doing battle.
I enjoyed the read. Happy Holly Days. Joseph

Thank you much, Joseph, and it seems to me we tend to be isolationist, but that ain't going to fly anymore. Like it or not, it's a global economy now. We need to learn to play well with others!

Well Legend, your rant is well-expressed and you utilized some creative end rhymes; while I do not agree with the entire content I like your style and commend you for your courage to put it out there. This phrase is powerful in its understatement: 'the truth is just another casualty'
I posted a political rant, Trial and Terror, and received some strong opposition, but all were respectful.
Like Prohibition that led to an increase in organized crime and political corruption, and the War on Drugs that assisted in the formation of Drug Cartels (to name just a few of the consequences) I believe gun control will be ineffectual. It's the wielder, not the weapon, that needs addressing.
To paraphrase your statement, we are approaching the American nightmare.
One correction to suggest: three-ring (not ringed) circus is generally how it is written.

Thank you, and all I'm asking for is some common sense gun laws, like background checks. Sure, it won't stop all mass shootings, but if it even stopped one, wouldn't it be worth it? Most gun owners would have nothing to fear from a background check, but you'd swear it was 'the government, coming for everyone's gun!"

There is much truth in this poem here. I totally believe in the American dream, but it is tainted and sullied by those who do not think, so this is an aptly named poem. The world does have conflicting views of the USA. I for one, love it from afar. I almost emigrated there when I was young and I am starting to regret not doing it now.

And we need optimists, such as yourself, to come here!

In all my years on Fan Story, I have never seen anyone pay out so much reading money.
America will always have a wild west mentality, I think.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading your passionate poem. And thanks for the $$$. Lou

Thanks, Louise, and as for paying so much, I had NO idea how it worked. I was shocked when it came in first on the first page. Looks like I overpaid, JUST a bit!

Hello poet friend. I appreciate your candid words and your remarks. I also am a red neck, in the fact that my neck is red from working long hours in the sun with a bent back. I also carry a gun in order to protect my family and your freedom to be able to criticize people as you have. The problem with us expressing our free speech, we tend to forget why we have it. So many people have sacrificed for these freedoms and to make us still the greatest nation on earth. We have the promises and the words of the next would be president, for that we should pray and be wise with our vote. Thank God for our military, thank God for the brave men and women who serve in our stead. Thank God for the police and fire personnel also. We should also pray for them while we criticize.
I do wish you the best in your work. Loyd

Thank you, Loyd, and responsible gun owners, like yourself, aren't the one's I worry about, it's just too easy for the unhinged out there to get one. And, believe me, as a volunteer fire fighter years go, I understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by the men and women in harm's way, and I've just posted a poem that says basically, despite what I view as all it's faults, I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Amen!

Thanks Loyd!

This is an amazing poem and commentary on the current status of American society. I think it's important to note that most American's don't support the redneck agenda and that a lot of people are majorly influenced by their sources of media. Regardless, this was fantastic. Well done and thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the six rating, and I totally agree that the way we view things is we're forced to view everything through the prism of the media, and whatever agenda they support. And I am pretty sure you're correct about saner heads prevailing, but according to the media, saner heads are hard to come by!
