A wonderful poem in tribute to the Christening of your Godson...perhaps a simple variety of your usual work, but one that was well written with word appropriate and enjoyable...Rhymed quatrain verses are always pleasant to the ear.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us, and Congratulations for taking on this Blessed responsibility.
Big Hugs,

You're very welcome, it was my pleasure!

I think this is a wonderful poem for the christening. I liked the change in stanza beginnings of "Behold this child and We hold this child" - both different purposes. One to show what he will face as he goes through life and the other to show our hope for his life to be filled with love along the way.

Thank you so much, boxergirl! I didn't want to repeat the same line, but I wanted it to match. I appreciate your great review!

As someone who is about to become a grandmother for the first time, I was very touched by your poem. I wish I had written it myself for when he arrives! I love how you convey the message that we give them nurturing and guidance. Very nice!

Very nicely done, even if not your usual style. It has universal appeal, for we all can relate to the truths in it. I never liked babies much. Give me a kid after he/she is potty trained, speaking in sentences, and coordinated. My own kid bored me silly till she was over 2 or so, but of course I loved her and did all the motherly things with her. Just not much fun at that age. :)

Thank you so much, my friend. I don't have a lot of experience with them myself, but I think I know what you mean.

This has such a beautiful rhythm and cadence to it! I love the fact that you voice a great deal of what I always thought each time I held one of my newborns for the first time.
Wonderful. Truly wonderful!

Thank you, musesinspire. Your comments are so positive, I was wondering where it fell short with you such that you docked a star. I appreciate your review. David

Dang it! That wasn't supposed to happen! The system timed out and I guess I mis-hit the stars when I had to redo the review. I'm sorry!
-
No worries. I was just wondering since it was such an enthusiastic review.
-
Again, I'm really sorry! *glares at FanStory servers* It really is wonderful. :-)

Thank you. Please don't worry about it. Since this poem is for my best friend, his wife, and their baby, I just want to make sure it's worthy of the occasion. :-) David

Good use of the abcb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good internal rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with light/sight...cage/rage. Good alliteration with we/were...where/will. Good rhythm and flow. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message.

Beautiful. What a touching tribute, and a great poem. Well done my friend. Life is so precious. The image of this child reminds me of times not so long ago when my own children were so very small.

Although I will turn 74 in just a few days, I still sometimes do nanny care. This little fellow looks about the same age as one I currently care for. Each day I am blessed, I pray the Lord will bless the work of my heart and hands. Your words and the picture work in harmony to show the love.

Thank you so much, Dinah, for your excellent review. My friend and his wife are delighted with it, and will be framing it for his room.
