Sage advice as only Grandma's are capable of. My mom used to say--so, you'll cut your nose off to spite your face? I love the picture; he's in full defiance mode. Kenny

It took all my discipline not to jump ahead and read this one!! That picture is classic. OMG, I have that very feeling still lurking inside me. I think I am able to hide the expression that goes with it though. (I hope so.) My smile just kept getting bigger as I read this perfectly written tale. Then the killer ending and big laugh to finish it off. This new format is a dream come true for the star of the show! mikey

As always This time also I feel so delighted of your wonderful narrative style that words would be too limiting to praise your poem.I feel as if you have got into your grandson's feelings more than him:)

Hi Brooke,
Oh, one can win against a 2 year old, but it's a tough fight, and requires an absolute iron will on the part of the parent, usually including being able to endure the screaming and tantrum while confining the offender to its room/cot/bed in pyjamas until it learns to behave ...
And probably a visit from the social worker because a nosey interfering neighbour was 'concerned'.
Great poem, and boy is that picture ever the 'Terrible Twos' look.

I think that this is quite a humorous insight into toddler behavior; many parents who have had the experience can relate! The poem is flows nicely. It is easy to read and easy to understand, which is a plus for me!

A beautiful poem. Great rhyming and flow. Superb picture of Sawyer. (Who is Alexander?)
I love how your words grab me. They always make me smile, there is a lot of love in them, and your grandsome is simply charming.
Thank you for making me smile again.
Love, Yelena

Yelena, thank you. Alexander is just the name I used. I never use Sawyer's names in the poems inspired by him. :-) Brooke

Funny, I like how his little lip sticks out like her really is the boy in the story. Great work and a cute little twist in the end. The will of a two year old is a powerful thing, but I think it can be topped. Well done.

That picture is so darn cute. I think it's the first one you have posted that didn't show him either smiling or looking two-year-old "sexy." If he didn't get his snacks, I can imagine the outcome of the fight - LOL.

With a smile and a wink:
They say that the terrible twos
oft bring on tyrannical rule;
when told - they just flat out refuse
when asked, they all mimic a mule.
They've mastered the art of the tantrum
they'll pout and they'll stomp and they'll spit.
They'll run when you tell them to come
and stand when you tell them to sit.
It's not that they're demon possessed
or born with some mangled up gene,
it's not that they're hexed or distressed -
it's not even that they're born mean.
It's just that their ego's unchecked
and they have no respect for your pleas;
they're part of the Me! Me! Me! sect -
You just have to endure till the threes!
(LOL)
