How frustrating I don't have a 6* to award you...grr!
I really enjoy the message you get over here Brooke. We really do push earth to the limit with our disrespect of the environment. I guess it really is just a matter of time before earth stops yielding what we need to survive ourselves. We reap what we sow...
I like the 2 different mothers represented in your poem - mother earth and mothers like you and I. Nice comparisons made.
I've yet to find my limit with my kids, although they do push it sometimes!
I really enjoyed your poem, thanks for sharing it :) Debra

I think this is the best poem That I have read that you have written. So deep and analytically. So profound. Well written. I will have to study this poem.

It's a state of affairs everyone pays lip-service to but none want to actually face, mefears (do you like my newly created archaic word?). You keep the message fresh by paralleling personal relationships more directly than just using 'mother nature' and that lifts this above most similar poems. Of course, it helps that you're a bloody good poet :-).

Thanks for the warning. Simple but pleasant rhyme scheme. The picture and color add to the total effect, also. Poetry should please the eye as well as the ear. This one does.

Happy Earth Day to you too! I don't think we celebrate it here - still, your poem was a nice tribute to the bounty of the earth that feeds us, we take too much for granted (some do) and man plays god with hybrid breeding of all sorts of fruits; we need to give thanks for everything we consume because it won't always be pure. Thanks for sharing Mrs Faery

Too bad other countries don't join in more with this day :-) I agree, most people take too much for granted when it comes to our planet and her resources :-) Thank you, Kay :-) Brooke

I had never heard of Earth Day before. But I think you did right by writing a Lament as all is going wrong at the moment. I can certainly relate.

Ine, I'm learning from other reviewers that many other countries don't really participate in this day :-) Thanks so much. Brooke

This is a beautiful poem, Brooke. Such a wonderful tribute to Earth Day. You raise a valid point in your author's notes, with any luck mankind will listen. Loved the picture you chose for illustration and your rhyme scheme was spot on. Excellent work. :)

I appreciate your message here, Brooke, and I like the picture of the fairy plucking a piece of fruit. We do indeed abuse our resources. Thank you for sharing this.
